My roles include but are not limited to the following; general admin work, assisting on day to day running of the business type jobs (KSOR), data and business analysis, data transfer and platform management.
Yes, while they are nowhere near where they need to be I have picked up lots of new skills within coding which was something I had never done before. Since beginning the role I have worked with SAS, Python and SQL.
With regards to the apprenticeship programme it is still early days in terms of the big picture however I have really enjoyed the classroom days with BPP tutors. They are very knowledgeable on their given topics and always happy to help and answer questions.
I think the structure in terms of what we learn and the order we learn it is laid out well, however the timeline could be very much condensed. For example the long gap between starting the role and our first classroom day was about 5 months.
Employer, or more specifically, my manager is incredibly supportive. they have been very hands on making sure I am assigned specific pieces of work that will relate to my course and the additional topics we have to cover. Also happy giving me set days to get my apprenticeship work done.
As much as is needed, cant fault BPP on their willingness to help us succeed.
While some of the content does not directly relate to my role, the content definitely helps me understand more where we fit in with the bigger picture as well as how my systems work that I use and would have otherwise taken for granted.
Yes, lots of extra curricular events covering all the examples above.
Yes
This is a very complex answer, however to keep it short I would recommend my current location (Gogarburn) which is a very forward thinking environment that pushes growth and development. However my old role within RBS customer service was the polar opposite.
Do your research on the job and try to speak with someone already in the role. preferably some neutral (not a manager) to give an honest review of the role.
