  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • dealing with any general enquiries that customer have. like making payments, creating standing orders, deleting standing orders, amending standing orders, deleting direct debits, checking payments/transactions, enrolling customers in the online/mobile app, ordering card readers and updating customers personal details. making appointments for customers through our diary as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • become more confident at customer service, more confident at listening to customers, become more computer literate, learned how to use brand new systems that I haven't used before, how to sympathise to a customer situation. being able to use the correct language to speak to a customer as well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • its very interesting and good to learn things that I haven't learned before. its opened my eyes as to what the bank actually does and how much of an important role it is.it is also good to be able to know that I am doing things correctly for the customer.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is very well organised and we always have a rota as to how we are going to do things in a day and what and when we are going to do the task. it is very organised and helps me to understand the working day and the time frames.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we get so much support. I have never received this much support from any employer before but Royal bank of Scotland have provided me with so much support. Royal bank of Scotland are also good at supporting you if you want to apply for any sort of learning courses that you want to go on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • we also receive so much support from our trainer when we are working and they still continue to provide us with any additional support when ever it is needed. we also receive so much individual support if required if we aren't quite getting something that we have just learned or only briefly went over.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that having the qualification makes me feel like I am that extra bit qualified to be in the role and provides me with the evidence that I am successfully completing the job. i think it also helps us to perform better in the job as it shows that all the work we have done has paid of.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there is a site called "workplace" which is basically a Facebook for the workplace and its great to use as we can see how other people are getting on within royal bank of Scotland and how they are being successful. we also have some yoga classes regularly emailed out for us to join.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • it is a great place to work at and the support provided to every member of staff is unbelievably great. the opportunities for succeeding are also so great. royal bank of Scotland also has so many opportunities for progression as they have so many learning courses for us to join and succeed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • I would recommend taking all the support you get as it is available to you all the time. i would also recommend to be as honest as possible as royal bank of Scotland are always looking for opportunities to improve. i would also be honest about your flexibility and how you would prefer to work for hours wise as they are very flexible.
