My role involves looking after Mitchells and Butlers employee brand and supporting the business with any recruitment and attraction needs. Day to day responsibilities vary and include, but are not limited to: auditing our external platforms, briefing in attraction material requests, reviewing our jobs social media plan and recruitment campaigns for our hard to fill vacancies and areas.
My skills develop on a day to day basis and Mitchells and Butlers really allow for this to help me perform to the best of my abilities. My apprenticeship has been great at providing me with tools to deal with different situations that arise in my every day job. The 20% off the job time is also a great opportunity to learn and develop skills that will benefit me wider than just my current job role.
I really enjoy my programme. Not only does it provide me with time to develop my own personal skills and abilities but it also gives me the opportunity to network with HR professionals from other businesses which I am positive are connections that will really help me when working on HR projects in the future. The training providers are very fun and friendly and make returning to the classroom an enjoyable experience.
My programme is very well organised and structured. We have our face to face dates for up until the end of the programme really allowing you to make your plans in advance. The sessions are well structured and you're sent information including what you need to prepare for each session well ahead of the required date.
Mitchells & Butlers have been great support. My line manager is very accommodating of my 20% off the job training time and colleagues from across the business are always happy to help you to learn and develop. Mitchells & Butlers have also been great support through funding my professional membership with the CIPD to support my studies.
So far my training provider have been great. They always emphasise that you should never have a question and not ask it or suffer in silence, they are always there and available to be called or emailed for any questions or concerns that you have. They also book in regular meetings to discuss your progress and any support you may require.
It is still early days in my apprenticeship however what I have found so far is that my qualification provides me with tools to help me deal with situations and problem solve in a logical and well thought through way. I look forward to applying more of what I learn to my every day role as my apprenticeship continues.
At Mitchells and Butlers head office we have a 'Friday Night Social' every pay day in which the social committee organise a different event for colleagues from across the business to network. This has included a quiz, games night and silent disco in the past. They also open up the training bar so it really feels as though we are bringing one of our pubs to the office!
Yes
I love my job and really believe that Mitchells & Butlers is a forward thinking company. I get great job satisfaction and love the fun and friendly environment that we work in. Most importantly I think M&B is made up of a great bunch of people that really make it a great place to be every day.
My biggest piece of advice would be to be yourself. I know it sounds a bit cliché however personality goes a long way within M&B. I would also say do a bit of research, we are much bigger than most people think, with a great range of opportunities to learn and develop.
