As I am a receptionist. on a day to day basis, I do tasks which include: Answering the phone and directing clients , being the first face any visitor sees therefore I introduce them to the building and make sure they are signed in and with the meetings organiser. Not only do I greet visitors, I also greet all employees. I also email and edit throughout the day along side my other not so day to day tasks which could be account or stationary orders.
I have learnt many new skills including time management and creative thinking and organization skills. I have also developed my written skills and communication skills as I constantly have to speak and write to many individuals whether that is our clients or my work colleagues. Another skill I have developed are my technology skills as I am frequently using most office equipment such as the printer, computer or even the plotter.
I enjoy my programmer thoroughly. I am always offered support in everything I do whether that is from my mentor or any other member of staff I work with no matter if they are within my team or not. Because of this, I am safe to say, not only is this office friendly but offices all over the country are also. This is rewarding as I feel comfortable in my job which makes me develop skills a lot faster.
My programme through the Learning Skills Partnership has been an extremely rocky path. I would say it is not very organised/structured nor is it professional. I am on my 3rd LSP tutor since September, with also some of my work being lost in this duration by LS, which has really set be back behind target. I do not enjoy the LSP side of things. With this negative aside, I enjoy working for JN Bentley as an employee because they have supported me in reaching my LSP target which shows they really do care about how well you do, not only for the company but for yourself, as an individual.
The support I get from my employee is incredible. I came straight out of school into this apprenticeship which made me see the big wide world a few years before others my age will do, which was a scary thought but throughout, I have been made feel comfortable. I have been given opportunities to prove myself, which I believe I have done. If I make a mistake, which everyone does, instead of being pulled down for it, my mentor goes through my mistake with me until I understand the task 100%.
50/50. As I said before, this is my 3rd tutor since September. My 3rd tutor has given me the most support however I do not feel as comfortable with her as say I do with my JN Bentley mentor. She does always offer my support but when I receive it, it feels half hearted.
It helps me perform better in my role as I learn new things. The many booklets I fill out and talk about, educates me daily on new things I can do in my role. However, I feel like there is more that can be done from my training providers point.
Yes, we always have social activities such as sport tournaments or even meals. We also have our annual Christmas Party which includes a game, that I organise, which gets everyone together. Also, we have work drinks now and again to get the bond between our staff closer. Not only do we do this, we also have something called 'brew haha' which is 20 minutes every Wednesday at 2pm for everyone to have a brew and a chat.
Yes
I would recommend this company to a friend as I truly believe it helps you not only as an employee for them but also for yourself. It helps you develop so many skills that you would not just learn by yourself. The team spirit throughout is incredible which makes more work being finished in a shorter amount of time as people are happy to be working here.
Know what you want to get out of this job role. Also, you just need to take every day as it comes as no two days are the same for me. I would also say, be supportive and friendly as you will fit in well if you are like that.
