On a day to day basis my job role involves me doing an arrangement with the client who has lost their loved one. I also have to speak with the crematorium or cemetery depending on what type of funeral the client would like and liaise with the relevant people involved throughout the funeral.
I have learnt a lot of new skills throughout my job. A lot of skills that I obtain in relation to my job role I learnt whilst doing my job, although I did have a lot of skills already which I use and have developed further within my job role.
I enjoy the apprenticeship programme a lot as it allows me to find out things which I may have forgotten. For example I am doing my maths and English qualifications again and thanks to the programme I have had to think about things I do not use very often if at all which I enjoy as it puts my brain to the test.
I feel that my programme is rather well structured as it is broken down into sections that take up the full twelve months which is how long the programme is. This means that each month I have enough time to do the work that is required of me as per each section.
I receive a fair amount of support from my employer, I have only been on the apprenticeship for one month so far but at the moment I am being given a fair amount of support. I believe that if I need any further support I will be able to speak to my manager and they will give me the support needed.
Again it is the same as above really. The support I get at the moment is a fair amount and my trainer for the apprenticeship is always on the other end of the phone should I need her and I know I am able to call, text or email her if needed.
I feel it will help me a lot as it will cover things that I will need to know that I may not have needed to use as of yet. It also teaches me things that I may not know or that I may be able to improve on if I have not already done so.
There are extra curricular activities for me to get involved in in the sense of community work. In the sense of social activities such as going out I have yet to come across anything like that apart from when someone has left the company and we have had a leaving do for them.
Yes
Because they are a great company to work for, they are supportive with things such as when I need to take an afternoon off as holiday as my child minder is away and I need to get my son from school and look after him for the afternoon or if one of my children have a doctors appointment coop allow me to be able to take them.
Make sure you fill out the application form correctly, be yourself. Don't try to be someone that you aren't. Have a look into what the co-op do in regards to the job role you are applying for and see what skills and things you can bring to the company that can help build the company further and keep co-op being a great place to work.
