I am a funeral Arranger where I am basically responsible for the branch and everything to do with it. Taking first calls, arranging funerals, doing accounts and finance, booking masonry, booking crematoriums and celebrants, answering the phones, dealing with mail and invoices and over all being a support for my families in their time of need.
The job role was completely new to me so everything I do I have learnt. I’ve learnt accounts and handling money and card payments and banking. I’ve learnt how to be a great support for my families, I’ve learnt how to manage my time and work to deadlines as well as all the processes involved when someone passes away.
I have only just started my programme but I love working through work books and learning as much as I can about my role and learning new things I never knew before. I like knowing I am going to get a qualification behind me so I can show this to my families and feel proud of what I have achieved.
I have only just started so it is difficult to say however it did take some time to get me on the programme with a lot of going back and forth which I was disappointed with because I wanted to get going straight away. I have been with the company almost a year before I was enrolled
I have really received any support yet in regards to my course because I haven’t been doing it long enough to be able to answer honestly. When enrolling though it seemed to be the coop that had delayed things rather than the learning provider people plus but I cannot say for sure
Again this is difficult to answer because I have only just started this course but it seems I will get plenty of support from my tutor as I have contact details and I can contact any time for extra support but as a rule the contact will be once a month so that we can meet or do remote catch ups
It is going to help immensely as I’m sure I still have so much to learn about my role and I will no doubt cover situations which I haven’t come across yet since being a funeral Arranger so I’m looking froward to learning more and knowing what to do in those situations
We have a Facebook group for our region where everyone gets involved in nights out or meals or celebrations etc we also do a lot of community activity which also involves a lot of outside of work sports and activities and getting involved with local teams and people out of work hours but it would be nice to have more work organised things going on
Yes
I always recommend coop to my friends. It’s a really good company to work for and the company benefits are brilliant. I have never worked for a company where you get so much praise and appreciation shown for what you do in your every day roles it’s nice to feel appreciated and know your doing a good job
Be keen and eager to learn and be prepared to meet lots of new people from all different walks of life and take part in the community. Be prepared for a big change in your life and a learning curve but it is all worth it in the end because you end up working for the best
