I am an engineering technician apprentice, and have undergone a variety of placements around the company. My day to day tasks vary depending on the placement but include problem analysis, trialling prototype parts, modifying parts, supporting or running departmental projects.
As part of my apprenticeship I have the opportunity to gain a PEO level 2, a BTEC ND, a Foundation Degree, and there is also a possibility of a full honours degree. Along side this I have developed a wide range of professional skills.
I greatly enjoy my apprenticeship programme, the work is interesting and challenging, and the teams I work with are professional and friendly. The company culture is positive and upbeat. The scheme has exceded my expectations
All the managers i have worked with have been fully apreciative of my efforts, and I have recieved full recognition for the work I've done in all departments. The amount the company invests in us over the course of the apprenticeship is a proof of how much they value us.
The apprenticeship is relatively well organised and structured, there are a few areas for improvement, including the external provider of the btec training. But the vast majority of the programme is well organised.
The level of support received from the training provider could be improved, a slight lack of organisation results in issues not always being addressed as quickly as the could be
The level of support from my employer is excellent. My training advisor is always available for advise or help, and all placement managers have been fully supportive of me in my placements.
My salary and package is quite competative. It covers all of my costs
There are a wide range of company events that are available to us to take part in.
Yes
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, and the opportunities available to me are excellent.
Be well prepared for the application process as it is quite demanding, and the programme is highly selective. Be prepared to work hard throughout the whole programme.
