Administration duties in arranging funerals, ordering flowers, obituaries, invoicing, coatings, taking care of the deceased. Taking care of the bereaved. Answering telephone enquiries, selling memorial products. Selling pre paid funeral plans.
Learnt about the funeral process. Understand the necessary legal processes,
I enjoy dealing with the families and friends and the caring side of the process. I find the administration easy, but I do not enjoy the need to sell.
Training is sporadic and on a need to know basis. Quite often you are just expected to know something. Communication is poor.
I receive support from my line manager, but from more experienced staff you sometimes feel like a nuisance.
Only received one visit from training provider, so it is too early to comment.
Better understanding of the funeral process, but this is mainly from “on the job” experience and not from the training provider.
Encouraged to do community work, but not social events
Yes
Good company to work for, in terms of benefits and salary.
