My role comes under the 'holdings' branch of shareholder reporting. I report the holding that M&G has in firms which we invest in, this is to comply with the EU Transparency Directive. This is mainly based on voting rights attached to shares as this gives the power for M&G to influence motions at a company's AGM. I report based on the thresholds set by a country's financial regulator.
I have learnt a lot of skills through performing my job day to day, and picking up these skills through experience over time. My Excel skills have significantly improved through the use of complex formulas and formatting. Additionally, my interpersonal and teamwork skills have developed as I am always working with others to make sure all checks are completed for all tasks in the day.
I very much enjoy the programme at M&G. The support that you get is very effective in helping you have a smooth transition into working life and pushing on to complete the qualification alongside your daily job. Also, there are a lot of additional events and opportunities to enjoy along the way.
I believe the programme is structured and organised effectively. The balance between study and work is very manageable and your manager will be very understanding that you will not be at your desk all of the time. You can enjoy internal and external events to gain a full experience throughout the apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support. I was assigned a buddy at the start of the programme, who is someone I can always go to if I have any issues with the scheme. Also, I have a designated HR contact who I can always ask questions to. My manager has always been supportive with me being on the scheme and is very easy to work with.
I receive a good amount of support from the training provider. I have monthly meetings with my coach who is always on hand to offer her support if I have any issues with the material I am learning for the exams I am completing. Also, there are effective materials offered to support learning for the exams.
I believe the qualification alongside my role at M&G work very well together. I can see overlaps between what I do in my job and the material I learn which very much helps my understanding. They accompany each other very well, which is a reason why I chose an apprenticeship over University.
There are a lot of extra events and activities on offer. There are new bits put on the sports and social page every day. I have been on 2 golf days, a Jack the Ripper tour, and even been skiing for a week with the apprentices. There are also events to get to know others around different areas of the company to expand your network.
Yes
M&G offers a great experience where you will learn and develop your knowledge significantly within the time frame of the apprenticeship. Additionally, there will be hard times along the way, however there is a very good support network to sort out any issues you may have. M&G also offer very good opportunities looking into the future.
In all stages of the process, keep calm and be yourself. Give as much information as possible to the questions asked in interviews by linking back to your past experiences, whilst always linking back to the original question. Additionally, put yourself out there as much as you can so that the company can gather as much information as possible about who you are.
