General Manager of a Bar/Restaurant, with the role of managing and training a successful team, with the expectations of achieving all business targets. Compliance practices following all policies and procedures are a key focus I drive my fellow leaders. I always aim for delivering excellent guest service, with a personal touch to build lasting reputation. Driving sales using all resources available is what is generated through the team to increase deserved profit.
A major skill I have recognised throughout the training programme is my self awareness, when working in the business environment, it has provided the tools to support me empower changes in my behaviours. The benefits of scheduling all working responsibilities, has provided good resources to do the job better. Gant charts, have introduced me to basic excel computer skills, where I am enjoying all IT learning, identifying the milestones of a task, however small.
This programme has a limited time for completion, which is conditional with the course, so you can't switch off. It is consistently being demonstrated in the work place, lead with my refreshed understanding of the companies Values. Everyday you recognise how you have handled a situation or issue, that reflects on your learning from programme. It has given me the opportunity to explore multiple sources and broaden my knowledge, that is being recognised in every day life, let alone at work.
Commitment to the programme has to be of a high level, as it has a good structured programme that his clearly introduced to you at the beginning of the course. Your time planning structure needed for your assignments, workshops and studying is critical for completion. Support is appreciated in the workplace by my peers, yet you have to control distractions and not loose focus when studying. I work in an environment where the team have supported me on my learning journey, delegation has broadened the responsibilities within my team.
The company Mitchells & Butlers value their people, so the learning and development programmes we have available to use, have recognisably been supportive during this programme. When I have demonstrated managerial task's reflective of business KPI's where I have shared my learning with my Manager and fellow peers, it has really being appreciated when supportive messages have been escalated from the company Brand Operation Manager and Development Managers, acknowledging the potential skills I am developing with this course. Influencing communication was an enjoyable module on the course, where my confidence to approach peers, has been enjoyable when making decisions and driving ideas with Regional Business Manager, her guidance is great.
It's appreciated that when learning within a diverse cohort of others managers, that the tutoring has to adapt to individuals abilities of experience of management. I have really enjoyed the skilled workshop training, that does stretch your confidence, when demonstrating your knowledge of experience. The IT support from the tutor introducing you to new method's, for example 'Skype' spoken communication, was daunting yet guidance was provided.
I have experience within Hospitality, yet the professional qualification I am aiming to achieve will evaluate the role of a manager, with the operational skills that are being recognising within the business. The theory motivational skills is proving a necessity to working team, as it is demonstrated with achieving higher profit results. Collaborating with colleagues across the range of the company, is harnessing all the resources available for me to strengthen the business at present I am managing, so I want the people I lead to also utilise the benefits of working for a successful company.
Commitment to the course hasn't really given me the freedom, to participate in too many social events, yet due to support from the 'hubby' and my three sons I have continued with being part of the Tamworth Amateur Swimming Association committee. I have attended community meetings and contributed to the Gala activities. We have been introduced to online time keeping, using basic excel administration to collate the individual times of the swimmers. I have enjoyed adapting to this change and responding proactively supporting fellow members who are reluctant to doing anything different. Navigating change is a skill, I enjoy mentoring with a positive attitude identifying for new challenges. These regular community meetings contribute to the business networking approach socialising the company I work for and empowering within, especially when promoting our events and promotions.

The online approach can be a first step, research the investors, the company strategy, the variety of brands they market. Don't forget to look deeper into the employee value benefits that keep growing and building our strong team reputation. When you are making the decision of a career , your priority is to have a good work balance with everyday life, that really only you can achieve, which I believe is a benefit I have learnt with Mitchells and Butlers.
