My role involves a variety of different tasks which include the anaylse of network performance, management of billing systems used to bill/pay the network. Management of budgets used in different areas of the business and ensure these budgets are adhered to, month end processes such as provisions and management of the P&L.
I started my apprenticeship straight from sixth form. I feel that i have acquired a substantial amount of new skills and also developed existing skills. Some of the skills i have developed include communication skills, time management etc. Some new skills i have acquired are management skills, excel skills, the ability to address an audience with confidence.
The programme that i was working on was very demanding and time consuming, however enjoyable as the qualification i was working towards involved me learning about new things. The programme was enjoyable however was stressful at times as it was difficult to manage my time between work and my qualification while also acheiving the things i need in both my work and qualification
The programme i was taking part in was well structured and organised, we were provided with the learning materials we needed in order to carry out our own studies. However some resource available to us to talk to an individual from the college was lacking, however I did have the resource available to me at the work place to ask certain questions
The level of support i receive was my supplier was appropriate to the qualification. I was offered unconditional support from my line manager and we spoke about ways to study and develop my skills within my qualification. I feel that the support received from my employer was ok but perhaps could have been improved.
The support offered from the college in line with the qualification i was working towards was ok. However at times during lectures i felt reluctant to ask certain questions due to my position within the lecture. I was happy with the support provided but it may have been more beneficial to have the opportunity of a 121 with the tutor.
The qualification i was undertaking was very beneficial to the role i was in, it allowed me to better understand the accountancy side of the role and understand how the P&L, Balance sheet and transactions work from a different point of view. The qualification has allowed me to better understand certain aspects of my role.
There are a number of extra-curricular activities to be involed in within my workplace. Football is made available to individuals within the work and the workplace also holds its own gym, which allows socialising outside of working hours. There are also quiz nights etc held throughout the year within the workplace alowing employees too unwind from their day to day routine.
Yes
I would recommend PSA group to a friend as i consider it to be an excellent place of work. The level of support i have been given throughout the duration of my time within PSA Group has now allowed me to become a member of the team i work in, without now being treated as the apprentice. PSA Group offers a friendly and accepting environment for new individuals joining the business.
I would inform others that the workload within the PSA group can at times be overwhelming and stressful. i would stress that time management and organisation skills must be developed in order to be successful within the group. I would advise others to visit similar businesses to gain a more in depth knowledge of how the business operates.
