I work in HR Compensation and Benefits , I will maintain the third party schemes and work with the payroll team to input and manage data. Some third party schemes are childcare vouchers and private healthcare , my role is to amend and maintain employees memberships with these parties to ensure there is no confusion
I have learnt how to use excel to a high standard and I have learnt how to network within a company. I have learnt how to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks. Due to the nature of my work I have learnt how to handle big projects and work independently
I enjoy my role and think the company Is a fair and enjoyable environment. I enjoy my working team and feel well supported by my manager and colleagues. I enjoy the work I am set and think I am always pushed to achieve my potential. I think the qualification side of the apprenticeship require some improvement
I think the structure of my apprenticeship could be improved and more support is needed regarding the qualification. I think assessors need to be more involved and proactive about their approach to apprentices. The work we are set is often irrelevant to our jobs making the questions difficult to answer
I think my employer is extremely supportive however I think the support from the training provider (the academy) needs improvement. My manager is always willing to allocate time to help me with my work or any issues I may have. I feel comfortable approaching other colleagues if my manager is not present
I receive little support from my training provider and I feel like is an issue for most apprentices on the programme. The assessors do not visit us often and I feel I do not get constructive feedback on any of my submitted work. I feel the general structure is very poor
I feel my qualification could be tailored more specifically to my job role , I think it is relatively outdated and may need adjusting. This is because modern business admin is very broad and apprentices’ within PSA do a number of roles and therefore the questions may not reflect our day to day work
I am part of the social committee at work which involves organising and holding events such as summer fares and Christmas parties. The social committee also holds things like book days and charity days to raise money and also to promote socialising. Joining the committee has been helpful in building my confidence
Yes
PSA is a supportive employer and I think they offer impressive benefits to apprentices which other employers may not. These include bonus’ and employee car schemes at a discounted price. I think these are good perks and also help apprentices to feel valued and equal to other colleagues within the business
Try to structure your time effectively and ensure you have a good work life balance. The work can be quite stressful however if you can build good relationships within and outside of your department it can make day to day work much easier as you will have contacts who may be able to answer or help you with any queries
