Working in a team to provide assurance over the financial statements of Banking clients. This involves testing various areas of the financial statements to provide assurance over key assertions.
I have developed further my communication skills and learned to manage client relationships. I also developed more confidence, knowledge and understanding of audit processes.
The programme is enjoyable, it's an opportunity to earn money while studying without the pressure of doing both at the same time which is how it is done on the graduate scheme.
The programme follows a set structure and this is communicated often. We know when we will be studying at uni and when we will be on placement.
There is support from your career coach who meets with you regularly and offers guidance/assistance with any problems you may have. I had supportive managers and seniors and there are also flying start champions who have been through the process.
We do most of our exams while at uni and ICAEW provides textbooks for some modules so we don't have to buy them ourselves. There is support, you just have to reach out and make it known that you need it.
The qualification gives me the knowledge of appropriate accounting treatments and auditing processes which is needed for the role.
There are often team socials at the end of an audit, weekly team quizzes, Christmas parties and office-wide group socials. However, these have been mostly virtual due to covid. The firm also has a volunteer initiative, One Firm One Day giving the opportunity to take a day out and volunteer.

It's a great place to work and will offer exposure to many opportunities in the accounting industry. They support you by paying you to study and gain a distinguished qualification.
A lot has changed since I applied but I would say, keep going even if you think you've messed up, don't give up. Always give others a chance to speak in group assessments and do your research on the company and the business environment.
