Very interesting programme, a lot of support. Day to day involves working in Audit, helping out with different jobs , learning a lot of new things and completing different working papers. Sometimes hours may be long in audit, so be aware of that when joining any of big four firm. However, the rewards that KPMG provides are great as salary is very good plus there is a bonus on the end of each year.
I personally learned a lot of new skills. It involves not just audit skills or accounting skills, it also involves time management, communications skills as you have to communicate a lot with your team and clients. Mot important skill that I learned was balancing work and studies at the same time, which is hard, however you learn it with time.
I really enjoy it as it is a great job especially at that age when you just left school or college. you learn, getting qualified and earning money, this is great and I enjoy it so so much. But some people who are not flexible or don't want to work long hours or revise/study after work may struggle, so do your research and make sure you know where you going.
Very organised, we apprentices do not have to worry about anything, everything is done for us, we don't have to worry about booking our exams or tutorials/college, the timetable is basically organised for us and all we have to do is follow it and make sure that we stay on track and ideally pass our exams in first attempt.
you definitely receive a lot of support, but you also have to be very independent and organised with your studies to make sure that you know what you are doing, stay on track and organise your time to pass your exams. Everything you need to learn a work is up to your employer or team that you are working with, they won't expect you to know much, they will teach and coach you, however, with your studies you need to do a lot by yourself which is something that you need to know before starting your apprenticeship :)
while you are at college you definitely receive a lot of support, but when you have online studies or something similar then it is harder to ask for support as you don't see your teacher face to face, which many people find very hard. After you finished college its time to study by yourself, you always can email your tutors or support that KPMG provides, but no one going to be right next to you telling you to study or revise, its all about you managing our time and make sure you revise enough to get a PASS.
yes definitely, I personally find it hard to balance work and studies, however, you getting used to it and it becomes easier and easier with time. I believe there is a lot of help that you can receive from KPMG or BPP, but I usually prefer to study on my own, unless I feel like I struggle to do so. Qualification that I am ding is definitely directly linked to a job that I am doing, so studies really helps to understand the job!
Definitely! there is a lot of volunteering that you can be involved in, or you can do sports of your choice. there is always some competitions going on, so plenty of things to get involved to as long as you are actually interesting. I have been volunteering and really enjoyed it!
Yes
Very good company to work at and you will definitely have a good future if you start your way here! I believe that this company doing great things for young people and we can take this opportunity from companies such as KPMG and work and study at the same time, after we are qualified we definitely will become professionals and have a good future!
Be yourself and make sure you say all great things about yourself and any work experience or volunteering that you have been doing. If you haven't done any, make sure you do before your interview as this is so so important!! When you get to the interview stage, its not even about your grades, its all about your personality and everything you've done outside college or school :)
