My job role is in backline customer service in the Digital knowledge team. My team creates all digital knowledge content for customers on all UKI products. My role is to look after Sage Business Cloud Accounting and Accounting Start help centre, and all content found within it. In my role, I review content and create new technical user guides. I also deliver product-related live webinars.
Within my job I manage my own time, meaning I have had to improve my time management. I have also become very familiar with many softwares that I had not used before and have even learned basic HTML and CSS coding. Sage also trained me on Sage Business Cloud accounting and Accounting Start.
I really enjoy working within my team, and the culture that Sage offers. I also get the chance to work with other teams which helps to widen my network. As I completed work experience before I started working at Sage I had an idea of what it would be like. however it exceeded my expectations and I love working at Sage.
I started in the first group of apprentices, so we had a two-week induction getting to know the business and the building. Then everyone was split into departments and products where people went into training. I think that each team is structured well, but the induction could have been improved.
I work very closely with my manager who is always there to support me with work or college work. I can also contact my tutor who is happy to help. Overall, I feel supported Sage also have many apprentice events that are there to help you develop and to support you.
I attend college every other week in Newcastle. My tutor is always happy to help in finding routes that I can take to meet the criteria in the qualification. Sometimes things can be missed as I have a few tutors for different units, but I can always email my tutor to find out what I need.
The qualification that I am compleating is Business Admin and this doesn't really relate to my role. I do get some useful information and I have learned things however, I don't think that the qualification improves how I perform that much. The main thing that has helped has been keeping up to date on the ICT skills that I had forgotten.
Depending on your team and department, Sage has many company events. In Customer services, there are often parties and team nights/events out. You also get 5 days a year for Sage Foundation where you can give back to the community. We also have some events that are just for the apprentices.
Yes
I would recommend an apprenticeship at Sage as it is a good company to work for. As an apprentice, I know that you aren't in a typical apprentice role with little responsibility and that you are actually given real roles and responsibilities. You also get some perks with working at Sage.
If you think Sage is a place you would like to work I would recommend that you try and get work experience before you apply so that you have more of a chance of getting the role! I would also recommend being yourself as the best part about Sage is the people.
