Support and Run Projects in the finance and legal portfolio. This consists of running meetings, general admin such as preparing for meetings by creating PowerPoints (for example), keeping up to date with my own projects and as discussed, shadowing others and receiving training etc. It is quite interactive but a lot of the time, you are on your laptop/computer.
Everyday I Learn new or develop skills. I would say that I am really making progression on creating management and communication skills. You start to really change and mature as a person as your personal skills grow so much. I also have training qualifications that I will get, so I will boost my career opportunities too.
The work is good as it can always be done within work hours and is stress free when you get out of the office. The company is great to work for and really helps out in all aspects- they are quite supportive. This is the same with your team. colleagues around you are very helpful and friendly.
whilst it is structured, I would say that it could be better organised. For example the training should be fixed- I keep having experiences where training is cancelled and has to be rescheduled. Also, within my role, for the first 3-4 months, it was quite unorganised it terms of knowing what to do.
endless amounts of supports. I would say this is one of the best things within Sage. I have a few mentors that I can go to as well as my manager and generally just colleagues around me. Also, I can go to anyone with issues or problems that I am facing.
I receive quite a bit of support from QA and they always reply to me rapid, which is great. I have a tutor who comes in regularly to see me and make sure I am getting the support required. Also, I have a colleague from QA on the phone that I can call if I need to.
It can be quite good because the training courses that I attend are exact for my role. They are quite good to make sure that you are doing what you need to and if you are not, they will support you the best they can. I learn quite a lot on the courses.
There is usually nights out/football etc. These are regular so there is plenty opportunity to improve bonds with work colleagues. Its a great environment! Also, you can do foundation days 5 days out the year, which is brilliant! I like to keep in touch with colleagues outside of Sage as this creates the bonds.
Yes
I believe as it is a large, well know company, there is lots of opportunity to progress both within and out of the business. I believe that the workplace is quite positive and really helps you to grow your skills and mature as a person. They help you and Support you.
Be yourself, open up and especially for people coming out of school, remember that this is a workplace; whilst you can be yourself, there is certain attitudes which you would have to drop so try not to be too crazy....until you are comfortable with your colleagues- then you can do what you please (well kind of)!
