I am a Team Manager I help run a large co-op store with 30 staff below me I am responsible for I tack full responsibility for all of the store task and manage the staff on a daily basis this will be delegating job lists as well as rotas and delivery's
The way I talk to my staff I have learnt that you cant talk to everyone the same and not all people need the same level of support as the wrong type can discourage the team member or in turn make them feel like they are not getting support so I have learned and developed the way I am helping the staff with in my store
I have enjoyed the monthly sessions in the conference centre as this is where I have learnt most of the new skills the daily task we are set thorough one file and given through the tutor has been hard as no information was passed down with this and this hasn't been helped by not having the right tutor or been set the correct information from the start
Not well organised as we didn't have any tasks to complete until February but have started the program in November and as we are doing the welsh side of the apprenticeship we are rushed through this program while the English side have been able to take there time with it
Manager is there to help if needed as well as the co-op learning facilitator and the hr team has been on hand if we have any problems the emailing side is the most useful part as that gets the quickest response only extra I would like is to be able to get how do I on home laptop for longer period as logs you out after a few weeks
I have had 5 tutors now and only the last one has given any support and feedback to me there was not a lot of support at the start of the program and the attitude was not good from the provider the experience with it was not good and I felt that it made me feel like leaving the program
it has helped in certain parts of may job dealing with staff and making the store a nicer place to work in it has developed the understanding I had about the legal side of the store and what my role is all about and what the co-op needs from me on a day to day basis
Were we are located there has not been a lot of opitunity for extra activities but I always will get involved with helping out local charity days I have done a baking day instore to help raise money for the local childrens paly ground and we baked cakes and I encouraged the staff to get involved
Yes
I have enjoyed my time for the co-op and feel like they want to help and support the staff that we are not just a number but they will take what we have to say and try to help I under stand that they are a business but you can feel like they would rather have happy stores than just a place to work the area manager I have will encourage the store to enjoy them self's he says job done have fun and that helps after you put so much of your self in to the store is to take the time to enjoy the reward
under stand what you need to do to prepare for the role and what they would like from you the story you tell for the experience is so important as it will hap to get the point and evidence across of how much you know and learn everything else is just a prosses which you should be able to do to pass the next stages
