On a day to day basis i work within a team to help provide outsourced accounting services. Tasks that i perform involve bookkeeping, sales orders, payment runs, VAT returns and management accounts. I work on a range of clients varying from the shipping sector, manufacturing, cleaning services and aircraft sector.
Yes, over the past 20 months i have learnt a wide range of new skills. One key skill that i feel that i have learned is being able to work well within a team to ensure we get the best out of each other and produce work to the highest standard.
I enjoy the programme very much and have benifited greatly since i first started. I feel there is a great balance between work and study. There are also various skills days provided as part of the programme which help us improve on our soft skills and learn about non-curicular topics such as british values
Personally i would say that the programme is very well structered with internal/external training and exams booked months in advance so we have a clear understanding of when things will be completed allowing work to be planned around it. It has been clear from the first day when and what needs to be completed,
I would say as much as is needed. Fortunatly i have not needed much support as far but whenever it has been required i have received it. Any issues get resolved quickly and this ensure that the programme runs very smoothly. We also have received internal training called TDP which has helped give insight to other aspects of accounting such as audit.
As much is required. For example, on the lead up to us submitting our end point assessments we would have regular meeting with our learning and devolpment team to ensure we understand what is required and when it is to be completed. This was run by both the employer and college
The resouces by First Intuiton are brillant and allow me to gain a full understanding of every course we take. This endure that nothing is missed out and i can then take this into my role at work. The teachers also create real life scenarios while teaching through their personal experiences as an accountant.
There are a wide range of extra carricular activities to get involved in including a department football team, yoga, various quiz nights and also loads of networking events. At the end of July there is a huge football tournament being held including teams from all around england that work for BDO. This has been made accessible by everyone as you can participate or spectate.
Yes
I have had a really good experience so far and feel that anyone who would like to become a fully qualified accountant has the best chance at BDO. There are many benifits to working at BDO also and has a very freindly professional work enviroment with and huge emphasive on team work.
Read into the values of BDO and determine whether or not you agree, if you do make sure you apply and give it your all to ensure you get in. Be yourself and not someone you think they want you to be throughout the process and most importantly enjoy it.
