  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I started my apprenticeship on the 13th of March and I've been having so much fun while learning new skills, meeting new people, understanding IBM culture and values. Ibm apprenticeship programme went beyond my expectations. Everyone shows keen interest in your learning and are always available to answer to your questions. I spent two and half weeks having an induction course in Horsley with 8 other apprentices, that was really helpfull and I enjoyed every second of it because we create a strong bond between us and helped each other during our first weeks. I strongly recommend IBM apprenticeship programme to anyone with passion for technology and that wants to make a difference in the future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think IBM programme is one of the best, if not the best in the UK! Since the day that we start we have a huge support from senior IBMers. In my case, I have a buddy (someone that I can have day-to-day talks), an EPM (Early Professional Manager) that is always available to answer any question and they introduced me to other apprentices so I can expand my network inside IBM community.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • IBM provides a lot of support in the apprenticeship scheme. Since day one, everyone shows keen interest in helping me on my daily tasks and I'm always able to schedule a meeting if I have any questions related to my tasks. IBM also provides a wide range of online and personal courses and allow us to take the time that we need to complete those courses and get the best qualifications. Each appretice have his own budget that allow us to complete courses that are not mandatories as well.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • If I have any questions related to my qualifications, I can speak with my EPM (Early Professional Manager), TM (Task manager), other apprentices or anyone from my team. If I need to attend to some course, I just need to let my EPM know, one or two weeks prior to the start date and I will be granted those days out of the office to complete my qualification. We also have monthly meeting with our EPM so we can discuss our education pathway and future roles that we would like to try inside IBM structure.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualifications help me a lot performing my role. IBM has it own Education website, where we can find a huge number of online courses about almost every role existing in IBM. It has been really helpfull for me because when I started at IBM I didn't have a clue what it was AGILE and after one week of doing online education I was able to implement AGILE thinking on my daily tasks. We can also keep a personal track of how many hours of education have we done online and face-to-face and that's another tool that's really helpfull.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes! At least once a month we have a GTS/GBS event, that everyone can attend and socialize after work, it's really helpfull because it help new IBMers to expand their network inside IBM. Also almost every team go out for dinner once every two weeks to socialize. IBM also have a "fitness competition" between all the IBMers around the world, and hundreds of events a year (cost free) that we can attend, we only need to apply if we're interested.

  • 9a. Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I've worked in different industries, different roles and different companies before I applied to IBM. I can say for sure that IBM went beyond my expectations. Everyone shows a lot of support, the culture and history of IBM it's the best that you can get! If you want to make a change in the tomorrow's world, IBM is the right place to be!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • Do a lot of research about IBM culture, products and ideals. Get out of your confort zone. Don't just apply to a role and expect for an email, send emails asking about an update on the status of your application because by doing that you are showing keen interest in getting a role into IBM and resilience!
