During the apprenticeship we have been trough a three week training course on how to repair HP units. Now we repair in the lab alongside other engineers which is helpful as you can ask questions and query faults with experienced engineers which can guide you as to what the problem could be
Since starting the Level 3 apprenticeship we have been attending college once every other week, which has tough us skills such as diagnostics using multi meters, reading schematics and soldering which come in handy when units have intermittent and board faults as you can test which part of the board is giving off the wrong voltage.
I enjoy the programme as I am working towards bettering my future, learning new skills and working with peers with a similar interests. This is good as it makes the program enjoyable, also the company provide incentives for working hard such as breakfast cards and treats, which is always nice to receive
The programme is definitely structured well as when we first join the business we are taken for a tour which gives us a detailed insight into how the business runs. Afterwards we are taken into a few days in each department to understand why each role is important. Then lastly we are trained on how to repair and move on into the lab
When working in the lab there is other engineers that can support you within your job and if there is anything you need in terms of admin or higher level support then you can speak to your manager and the problems get resolved quickly. Our current manager is definitely suited for the job and is very caring for his staff.
When at college out teacher does a great job to teach us new skills and to keep us engaged with tools such as team quizzes and practical tasks. When working towards completing our assignments out college tutor is great for helping us because you can always email him and ask him for help.

Yes
very good opportunity, with plenty to learn and people to meet. Also the pay for the apprenticeship is good and more that most others. Whilst working here i can honestly say i have made a few new friends and enjoyed every step of the way. Defiantly recommend to everyone and anyone.
Get in as soon as, the advantage of the opportunity. Work hard and get rewarded for it. With most jobs its either a dead end or meaningless and your just another number in the system. With Dixon's you feel involved and important as your repairs are going back to customers.
