As sous chef I run shifts, ensuring all team understand the requirements. Health and safety is being followed as are all other legislation. I complete food orders, stock counts, put away food orders correctly, complete staff rotas, ensure all company training is being completed by my team and they understand their roles.
Through my apprenticeship I have learnt several new skills that i wouldnt have learnt in my business, such as knife skills for example learning how to fillet a fish, how to make sauces from scratch aswell as things such as pastry dishes. It helped me develop skills such as ensuring timings are followed and prioritising tasks to ensure everything is ready at the same time
I really enjoyed completed my level 2 apprenticeship programme with lifetime, I had lots of continuous support and was helped with any issues i had which was very few. I enjoyed it so much that I am now signing up for level 3 with lifetime again to continue my development
The programme is really well organised and we are given dates and meetings and times well in advance to ensure as little disruption is caused in our business Everything is planned in advance and we are given all the information we need and are always able to contact the correct people when needed
My employer gives me lots of continuous support in my business with assisting me to complete my apprenticeship programme, they ensure I have enough time to complete work given to me by lifetime and ensure I do not attend chefs academy on my days off so I still have time outside of work
My training provider is excellent at helping me work towards my qualification and ensures to help me with any issues or questions I have and will always be at the other end of the phone if I have any questions or difficulties and ensures meetings are happening on a monthly basis
My qualification has helped me progress in my job role and the qualification has helped me learn so many new skills and gain so much more confidence that it has helped me progress in to the new job role as head chef running my own kitchen and has given me more skills
We do not have any extra curricular activities available at my work place how ever we do go out as a team and spend time to gather team building. How ever through my course I have been able to take part in professional networking events such as pride awards cooking
