I work in different departments of the Company (Warehouse in Newark) and my job includes doing audits and making sure that the other operatives follow all the processes. Also, one of my jobs are checking for damaged stock and that the correct procedures have been followed. I also update spreadsheets and fill in the logs made for our department.
In my job I have learned a lot of new things and gained a lot of experience. I have been trained on several processes in the warehouse like I have gained an MHE licence, have been trained to use a truck to do jobs like picking, moves and putaways. I have also improved on my skills with using spreadsheets.
I received a lot of support from my employer, especially from my managers and specialists. They were also helpful and welcoming to ask questions and to go to them if I ever had any issues. My manager was also very helpful with making sure that I completed all my modules on time and to a high standard.
I received a lot of support from my training provider. I met with my assessor at least once a month and I could always email or call to ask any questions I had. I also received a lot of help from them when preparing for my final end assessment as well.
My employer provides many different extra-curricular activities. There are family days, Peak parties, Christmas dinners and our Company has a football team. We have a special team that organizes all different types of events and raises money for charity. This team also has a raffle after every payday that everyone enjoys.
Yes
This Company is very large and there are different departments where everyone can find something that would suit them. Managers are very welcoming and help with every task that you as an apprentice would have to accomplish. You can gain a lot of experience and you feel like part of the team.
Don't be scared that you have no experience in working in a big warehouse. It can seem a little overwhelming at first, but everyone is very helpful and training is to a very high standard. Also, I would suggest to take part in any events that are organized because it is always fun and a very good time.
