I speak to customers on a daily basis and assist them with their everyday banking needs. I try to resolve every query at first point of contact and take matters into my own hands. I have to help customers with many different queries linked to their banking accounts and also do tasks like blocking and reissueing cards, money transfers and bill payments ect.
I have learned a lot of new skills like communication skills, and listening skills. I develop these skills on a day to day basis by interacting with colleagues and customers. I have also gained a lot of knowledgable skills around banking and finances and life skills. I continue to reflect on these and use them throughout my role.
I enjoy this apprenticeship program very much as its the perfect way for a young person like me to develop and further my skills, go through an extensive learning journey and it also lets me develop an understanding of adult work life. I also get paid for this experience which is a huge benefit.
My program at the begging was very structured and the learning and practical balance was extremely well portioned and I enjoyed that the most. It then began to get less and less structured when knowledgepool took over and we were changing a learning style close to our exam but we are now back on track so I am fine and believe the structure is well and organised.
I receive plenty of support from my employer as they offer extensive resources like KIT and phonebook and intranet so I can keep up to date with daily news updates and changes, and we are always kept informed with the latest news and changes with Barclays services and products offered.
We receive a full day of a focused study day with an external training provider knowledge pool who support us all on an individual basis to work on our qualification and it’s a great amount of support which is really beneficial to myself as I am finding the experience to be great so far.
My qualification is also banking and business related and the qualification and exam i’ve been studying for contains the laws, rules and regulations that’s i have to use in my day to day job. It also contains information on consumer markets and customer service and how we can benefit them which I use in my role everyday also.
There is a dedicated sports and social team that constantly have on going social events to go to, and they offer things like discounts on daily things like going to the cinema or going out for food. They often do competitions to win free tickets to a concert ect and it’s a very beneficial programme.
Yes
I think my job is a great experience for a young adult like me i’ve worked for barclays since I was 17 and i’ve always had an enjoyable experience with it so I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend my friends to come and work for a great company.
Make sure you present yourself as the true you, Barclays is looking to employ people for who they are and the life skills they clearly display so if you would like to work for Barclays then just show your true self and refer back to the 5 barclays values throughout the application.
