My role as a wealth management executive is to support a wealth manager in meeting their client's needs and help with day-to-day banking activities. Another aspect of this role is finding new individuals that meet the Barclays Wealth criteria and suggesting these to the wealth manager for a new prospect.
From working in Barclays Wealth I have expanded my knowledge of financial markets and banking products. Not only my knowledge has expanded but my life skills. In the role I work in, I take phonecalls and meet with individuals face to face, which has improved my communication skills, especially on a professional level.
My apprenticeship programme with Barclays Wealth is very enjoyable. I have not only expanded my knowledge and developed new life skills, but also made new friends within the same programme as my self. I feel that this programme has allowed me to enter the working world at a young age.
My programme is well organized and structured. As I am doing a degree apprenticeship, I also attend University. At Barclays, the programme is structured to fit in both work life and study life. I am allowed one day off for study a week and work are very flexible around my studies.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. Not only at work with wealth management executives and wealth managers giving me support and training me to do different tasks, but on the academic side too. I am supported in both work ad studying and my employer has found a good balance between the two.
We receive a lot of support rom our training provider with our qualifications. We have a week at University for each module with lectures all week with the opportunity to raise any questions or concerns and then regular webinars with our lecturer to raise any more questions we have and to attend further learning.
My qualification has allowed me to gain knowledge and understanding around not only my role in relationship management, but of financial markets and the financial world in general. I find it a lot easier to engage in professional coversations and listen to market updates from the qualification I am doing.
I am the rep for relationship management apprentices and go to fortnightly meetings where we organize social and professional events for all apprentices to attend. I am also part of the social committee who come up with new ideas for fundraising and charity events. There are many opportunities for volunteering and social activities at Barclays.

Barclays create opportunities to rise and grow and develop. They make sure you are comoftable and learning and have monthly one to ones with your line manager to ensure you are happy and progressing in your career, while being supported by colleagues. Barclays also offers opportunities that you would not find elsewhere.
Be yourself. Barclays promotes and involves itself in diversification and has room for every type of person. For myself, as I am quite young I felt a lack of confidence when I first started but Barclays have supported me in my growth and development in my career, and my confidence has risen hugely.
