My Job is to contact customers to find out any banking jneeds they may have and maintain a good relationship with them going forward. We are also required to process loan applications, open savings accounts for customers and book in mortgage appointments with our new premier mortgage team. I also have the role of mortgage and lending champion for my team.
I have learnt many new skills in this role. Before this I was the manager of a pub on the Wirral, working 70-80hr weeks. As a pub manager I really enjoyed the role and learnt many skills but after joining Barclays these skills have progressed even further. I have completed all mandatory training and also numerous self-enrolled courses. I have also become a first aider since joining.
We have had a number of issues with the apprenticeship providers knowledge pool over the last four months. This has involved us not having a talent coach to guide us through the journey at a particularly important time (when we should have been taking our exam) This has meant we have booked the exam late and are still yet to meet our new Talent coach
The employed side of the programme is great, Barclays have been really good, team leader has also been very supportive. As I said earlier, the other side, the apprenticeship run by knowledgepool, has been a shambles causing a lot of unnecessary stress that really hasn't helped our journey. This has been resolved now apparently but I am yet too see it.
My employer is very supportive. I am given a day off each week in order to study. This day has really helped me as I am also a carer for my dad who has had 2 strokes, this means I do not have time in the evening or weekend to catch up on studies.
Very little at the minute. I have explained this all in previous answers how dissatisfied we have been with the service from knowledge pool. I am waiting to see if it has all been resolved and will feel a lot more comfortable once I meet my new talent coach on Monday hopefully
I wouldn't really say it helps with the role, I just found it a good way for me to be able to access a carreer that I have no experience in. Obviously some of the things we learn are directly related to the job we do but we would learn these within work anyway.
There are some but these are few and far between. We yhave a Christmas party each year and also a colleague recognition ball but this is it really. Occassionally an extra curricular activity will be organised but tend to involve certain groups within the department rather than the department as a whole.
Yes
Great opportunity to get into the banking sector, especially if you have no experience within the industry. The support from Barclays has been great, it is only the support from knowledge pool that has been lacking. The pay is good for the level of role although there is a lot expected of us
Go for it, great opportunity to try a new career, even if you haven't got any experience they give you sll the knowledge and training you need to be able to carry out the role to a high standard, I have been really impressed with the way they work
