The work experience we did involved a full health and safety course as well as a full training of how to strip and put back together the various amounts of laptops that we will have to repair. Then when that had finished we were put in the main lab where we were repairing laptops.
The training that I received was a full technical course on how to take apart laptops and the precautions we have to take when dealing with the small parts that the laptops have. The skills I have developed are my team working and communication skills as I have been helping fellow technicians and calling customers about their laptops.
I really enjoyed my time here as it helped me better myself as a person and helped with me thinking what I want to do later in life as it gives you an inside look as to how the company works and how to work for a company of such a large scale.
The work experience was well organised to begin with, as we had to do a formal interview which then helped us with future interviews. But when we were in the main lab we were placed randomly on the spine and in the morning its a sort of free for all to see who gets a seat.
I learnt a lot about how its like to work in such an environment and how the company wants the best from us and that helped me figure out what I would have to do for future job prospects and how the company would me to act if I were to come back
It helped a lot as it gave me an inside look as to how the company works and how to do the job itself and if this job is the right job for me. It helped me realise that I would like to get onto the apprenticeship when my college course has finished.
We were paid for the hours we worked, outside of the approximately 40 hours we had as holiday hours, and were paid well above the minimum wage for my age. This was paid out every 4 weeks on a Thursday, which is the same payday as the rest of the company which makes it easier for you to adjust to the company.
There was an opportunities on the in house workplace we had which had many groups which allowed us to meet like minded people and make friends within the company. This also allowed us to keep in contact with other friends on the work experience when we weren't near each other
Yes
It's a good place to work and a good place for discounts, such as 10% of all dixons' stuff, such as curry's pc world. its a friendly environment where you can relax whilst still getting the job done. it allows you to fully develop your technical and social skills.
It's a friendly workplace, however I would go into this job with a can-do attitude and try to hit the targets as best and as often as you can to make sure that you please the higher ups and maintain the job that you have, but overall it's a good job
