  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to deal with formal arrangement called Power of Attorney, Court of Protection Orders, dealing with queries and the setting up of these arrangements on behalf of the Barclays, these queries can come from all areas of the bank such as Wealth, Barclaycard, Retail, Corporate as well as Head office.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills such as theory behind people's behaviours, I learnt better time management due to the requirement to submit several assignments before each study block. It helped me to write reports better, as well as expand my own experience and leadership skills within my own team

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme as it helps me to develop as a leader, to give me industry wide insight on how other organisations manage people. It also enables me to network with different people who attend this course who are in different backgrounds within Barclays and it gives me a formally recognised qualification at the end

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured as it is the 3 time this programme has been done. The initial 2 programmes were the test bed for this latest iteration. The mistakes previously made have been corrected with this latest apprenticeship scheme, these included modules that didn't really fit in the programme, scheduling of study blocks etc

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Fantastic support from my line manager and senior operations. I had always had my expenses made for my travel done in advance and these were always timely agree and paid. For great management support with feedback and getting information, leadership and other areas were always helpful enabling me to complete my assignments and provide good material for my assignments

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get days off to study, I have also been able to reschedule my working shift to accomodate any personal issues due to studying for my course and if I have assignments that need submitting before each study block. I also have review with my line manager in my 1 2 1s about this course and if there is any other support that can be given

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has definitely changed the way I approach people and has made me more proactive in looking at improvements in the way the team can be ran. I also can share my best practices which I learnt on my course with my team leader and it gives an insight for any other colleagues in my workplace who wants to undertake this course

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We worked on a project with a third party company in order to improve their business model, this involved using our resources within Barclays to look at ways to get an mobile application developed, how to look at marketing aspects, providing a project document to give to the third party company with recommended tips and advice

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Barclays has great values and is one of the top employer of choice in the UK. You get great support when you join from the people you work with as well as internal resources such as HR, KIT and also there are great benefits such as Perks at Work, Pension, Axa. There is also flexible working depending on the role and area of work you are in


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • When applying for Barclays its important to understand the role that you applying for, this helps you with the interview and also what you are committing to. Barclays does help you train and there are people to support but always apply when you know about the job and have a genuine interest as the wrong job no matter what the Company cannot make you a happy worker
