my role is to shadow a team leader in the contact centre - the tasks that I do on a daily basis are pretty much the same as a team leader for example; call monitoring/1-2-1's with the team/coaching/return to works/filing/managing absence/floorwalking/ managing risks - BAF etc. Every 6 months I have the opportunity to move to different departments for experience in other business areas.
I now have organisational skills , i can now understand how to deal with difficult situations, i have built the skills to be able to problem solve, since I started in a leadership role I now know how to take ownership and more responsibilities .- adaption and flexibility - multitasking skills - working under pressure
I would recommend the programme to anyone as I have had the best journey so far and its a great way to complete a degree without getting into debt etc. I am more of a hands on person but have always wanted to do a degree so this style of programme was perfect for me!
9/10 everything on the programme is organised there has only ever been once where there was a lack of communication between Barclays and the university. the study blocks are booked well in advance and you are made of aware of them with plenty of notice. The study blocks are spread out and are always in nice hotels.
Barclays support me when I have degree work to catch up on and they are very understanding etc. I am given 2 days a month to study which is a fair amount of time to complete outstanding work. I also have a tutor from Barclays who has regular 1-2-1s and catch ups with me to support with any concerns/queries.
Anglia Ruskin are very supportive and for every assignment I am given lectures and so many handouts of everything I need to know. Anglia Ruskin also support with online libraries etc so I could not complain. Once I was struggling with an assignment so I emailed my lecturer and within 2 hours she gave me a call to run through exactly what I had to do!!
my qualification helps in my role because the content I have learned so far in leadership and management just gives me a different outlook/perspective on certain things for example decision making etc. I have learnt lots of theories and models that have now stuck in the back of my mind that go through my thought process when I am at work.
I sometimes get involved with charity events and the odd digital eagle or code playground event which is basically educating the community on easier ways to do their banking. Barclays run an event every year call skyball which is a colleague recognition event to recognise great work people have done.
Yes
Barclays are so supportive with any choices that you make for example I have completed the foundation apprenticeship and then I moved onto the higher apprenticeship so within a few year I have gained 6 qualifications whilst doing a normal day job. I feel that in my previous job I would have never gained skills and knowledge as much as I would
Research the companies values and behaviours as Barclays are vey passionate about values. Barclays are happy to support you in your role or even if you want to progress on to further roles/education. Barclays is such a friendly company to work for with lots of amazing opportunities available to you.
