I work as part of one of the 9 teams that make up expert support. We are the servicing solutions team and we deal with queries from both customers and internal colleagues. We have phone lines that are open 9-5 Monday-Friday and we make sure we get a resolution for any query that we receive. We also have a queue each that work falls into and we make sure we get this is SLA to make sure we have serviced our customer or colleagues in a fast and friendly way to make sure that they are satisfied with our service.
While I have been here I have learnt so many new skills that I didn't have before, I am now more IT savvy and know how to use and operate over 6 different systems that I may use in 1 day. I have learnt how to have the correct telephone manner and made sure I have got this to a high standard so our customers have a level of professionalism when they call for us for a query.
I enjoy the apprenticeship I think it is a amazing opportunity to grow in a amazing business like Barclays, The work ask for the programme is not too much to ask for and we are given 4 hours a week out of our work time to complete our apprenticeship work. This is a lot of time if you match it at home it is a large amount of time a week to be able to complete any work asked on time.
I have been on a 12 month programme for just over 2 years. It has now become near impossible to get any response from the people on the programme. Myself and Leaders have also chased this as it was over 2 months ago I sent my portfolio off to be quality checked and I am still awaiting a response form what is next. At this point I would just like to complete the apprenticeship and become and Barclays member of staff.
My employer is very supportive within anything I need to do and very flexible while I have been on my programme, they let me leave to take my exam for it and they have also given me my 4 hours a week plus any more I may have needed at certain times.
At the beginning I received a lot of support from the trainer we always had meetings and get together to help me understand and complete whatever work I needed to on time. As I have reached the end of my programme I have had near to no contact with the trainer and I almost feel like I have been forgotten about as am constantly chasing for answers.
I feel as though it has helped as I know I have achieved the first qualification while I was on the capita training course this made me feel as though I was good enough to do my role and I still to this day do my best every day that I am in work and constantly find ways to improve.
At Barclays we are a very charity based company we do a lot of charity work weather it be a cake sale, dog show, tombola or even people taking time out to do runs or treks for there chosen charity. Here they offer charity days so you don't loose holidays and whatever money you make for your charity Barclays have a pound for pound scheme that will match what you made to double it for your chosen charity. Also we have dress down day every Friday and at the end of the month everyone pays 1 pound towards Barclays charity.
Yes
I think it is a amazing business to work for and there is so much room to progress as is isn't just a job here you support other teams and learn new skills every day. You can work yourself up to a VP or AVP if you wanted to turn your job into a career with Barclays.
Go for it :) . It is such a amazing place to work and they really look after you and help you be the best you can be. Even on the apprenticeship scheme you can grow into anything you want to be in the business and any leader will help you along the way you will learn so many new skills that you will remember forever as well.
