I have worked in VAT compliance for the last 8 months. It has involved preparing and filing overseas VAT Returns for large corporations. It is getting data in from the client, manipulating the data and preparing a VAT Return which is later sent for review and once approved, filed. Not much client facing at all. more of an office desk job.
I have massively increase my excel ability as the job primarily involved excel. Increased my confidence by speaking to many different people I would not normally speak with. Taught me how to prioritise tasks and deal with the more urgent ones in a time efficient manner. Lastly, working with different ages has allowed me to increase my patience as not everyone is at the same level.
I thoroughly enjoy it. To an extent that I look forward to coming into the office in the morning as I like meeting the different types of people PWC employ. It makes the whole experience better. The work was a bit tedious and overly demanding and pressured however you get to a point where you get used to it and when it isn't there, you kind of miss it.
Its quite organised. I always knew what I was supposed to be doing at anyone time and never am I ever lost as to what I need to do. If I ever did get stuck on something, I knew there was someone there to ask so I was never in the shadow regarding that.
We receive a lot of support. I have a career coach who drives your career and gives you advice on how to improve in your day to day roll and look ahead for your future. We have buddies who are like 1 year senior to us which you can ask all your 'stupid' questions to.
We get sent a timetable with the number of college days. Without question, when it comes to college days, they just give us the day off where we can switch off and attend college. I just wish that we were given a few more study days as without them it can get very pressured and hard.
for my role, it hasn't helped that much as the information I learnt in my qualification wasn't very relevant to my day to day role. The skills however I am learning are just strengthening every day I work more and more, which is a very really good thing.
Yes there are monthly socials which take place which anyone can attend. Also they are network groups which we can join where they organise there own socials which we can join too. There a lot of extra curricular activities. we even have an away day where we are away from the office for one day to do some sort of team building exercise.
Yes
Its a great place to work. Absolutely love the different people it has and how everybody is so nice all the time. There is always someone to help you with anything you require assistance on. Also, the flexible working is great. The ability to Work from home and also the flexible hours just makes the working atmosphere a whole lot greater
Be prepared. Be sure to look at the competencies and think of scenarios that relate to those competencies. Answer questions in the STAR format. For the Assessment centre, speak up. Just say anything even if it doesn't make sense. Don't speak too much but be a leader and take charge. For the interview, be calm and just be prepared.
