I work within Transaction Services and am aligned to the fdna team. Within this team I am in the modelling team whereby I perform UF review and comparisons on models from clients using excel and a range of different programmes within this database. It’s a challenge however it’s very enjoyable.
Since the moment I joined PwC o have learned a range of new skills whilst developing skills I had prior to joining. I believe I business acumen has developed significantly since joining due to working on live business cases. My excel skills have developed as I’ve been constantly working with new Add ons within the programme.
Due to the fact I left school after I completed my A Levels, I was worried I would feel I was missing out on university with all my friends - however it is the best decision I’ve ever made. I am thoroughly enjoying working at pwc and constantly learning on the job whilst sitting exams.
When I initially joined in September, we went through a month of training whereby we were alligned to our sub teams within TS. This was extremely helpful as it ensured we were not thrown into the deep end completely and we had some initial training to help ease us into our new roles.
My employer is completely supportive in every aspect of my role within the firm. Throughout the year you have a few catchups with your people manager whereby they ensure everything is okay and you can raise any issues if you have any. I feel entirely comfortable talking to my manager on anything that is worrying me within the workplace.
ICAEW and Kaplan both provide tonnes of support coming up to ours exams as they provide us with various different materials in order for us to learn the information on the exam. The Kaplan website has an area where you can contact and tutor in any form you want which is helpful.
So far within my pwc experience I have completed both the accounting and business technology and finance module and passed both - I am currently working towards the law exam. The information learnt in these exams gives you a much better understanding of the work that I complete in my tool and increases the quality of the work completed
I am part of the social committee within work so I ensure there are many social events as I feel it’s a key aspect of a happy workplace. We organised an away day, dinners, bowling, pizza in the office etc. As well as that we have bootcamp within our team provided by our manager which is during lunch and after work.
Yes
It is an excellent place to work where you get challenging enjoyable work that allows you to perform to your highest ability. The office itself is an extremely enjoyable atmosphere and the people are all extremely friendly. The exams provided are very well done as you get time off to revise and classroom days are organised.
I would ensure people are proactive before their interviews in ensuring they are completely prepared. I would say the most important advise I took was “be yourself” and I was entirely myself in my interview and it flowed well. Ensure you have researched pwc key attributes also and relate each answer in your interview back to these
