  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role within KPMG is currently working as an auditor, what this involves on a day to day basis is helping KPMG to complete the audit within the required deadline. This involves working from the client site and working on different areas of the business such as cash testing or bank reconciliation to ensure that the account are correct.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely improved my communication and team work skills as these are crucial skills as an auditor. I have developed skills in accountancy including learning to use accounting software as well as increasing my accounting knowledge. I have also improved my excel skills including learning to use more formulas within excel.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i really enjoy my programme as i have been allowed to see what accountancy is really like in the real world and have been able to help with different audits for different companies within different industries. I have enjoyed this as it allows me to see how business are structured and preform within different industries.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The KPMG programme is very well organised as you will know exactly what you are doing and what is required from you well in advance. It is structured very well as it allows you to rotate around the business before specialising allowing you to see which department of the business you enjoy the most.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • KPMG has an apprenticeship team which allows you to ask for any help if required and they are always there to help. You are also assigned a mentor within your department if you require any help outside of the apprenticeship but in your job as well as a performance manager who will hep with any queries. The support received from KPMG is really good and always available.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider are also really helpful with support as you are able to ask any questions you may have when learning the topics as well as the ability to email any questions afterwards. BPP has forums for all of the exams which allow you to ask any questions you have at any stage and receive any answer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that I am studying to allows me to perform better as it allows me to understand my role and my tasks to a better level. This allows me to ask less questions once a task is assigned to me and to complete my work to a higher quality standard. My training provider helps me throughout my exams making sure that I am capable and able to pass my exams.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • One extra-curricular activity that I get involved in is the sports teams, I am currently involved in the KPMG rugby team. I attend professional networking events that KPMG offer such as breakfast with partners at KPMG. I also attend social activities such as team dinners or drinks with clients. KPMG offer a lot of different extra-curricular activities such as the examples above which are open to all KPMG employees.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • KPMG is a great way to get into the financial industry and opens a wide range of different career opportunities. KPMG has an apprenticeship team and gives you various connections such as a mentor to allow you to ask any question or get any help that you may require. KPMG is a friendly firm and a great place to work at as well as the opportunities and benefits that the firm offers.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would recommend reading the news and the financial time if possible to expand your understanding in the financial sector and the economy. I would also recommend to focus your A-level subjects for a career with KPMG, subjects such as accounting, economy and maths are great subjects to better you understanding and ability for when you apply for KPMG.
