My role involves helping clients with their day-to-day queries and issues, and offering relevant products and solutions to them. I ensure to have 2 client reviews per week, to see if there is anything we can be doing to provide better service. I am the clients main point of contact, whether it be by telephone or email.
My time management skills have been challenged in this role. You have to learn to prioritise, whilst also ensuring you can sending holding replies and follow up on ongoing queries. It has allowed for me to be more organised. Moreover, I have developed proactive and interactive skills; being that we wish to add value through offering products and solutions.
I do feel the programme is a great opportunity to accelerate in the business. However, as it is a relatively new programme, there are things that need improving, and can sometimes make the experience more difficult. I enjoy the day-to-day role, and the career opportunities that come out of it. I do feel if feedback was listened to, the experience may be better.
The apprenticeship programme started off very disorganised, and feedback was rarely listened to. I do feel like feedback is asked for, but rarely actioned. It has improved from the position I used to be, however still lacks the structure that a programme that has been on-going for some time may have.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I feel she wants to see me succeed and wants to support in every way possible, even as far as academics. I feel I am listened to when I raise an issue, with my line manager. I do not receive this as much from the apprenticeship team within the organisation.
I feel I receive all the support possible as far as you can receive in an apprenticeship scheme. Lecturers are always there to assist when I have a question, we have in depth University weeks and regular Webex's. The tools uploaded on the study site are useful and cover a wider context.
I would say it provides a base knowledge of banking, more so than someone in my usual role may not have. It allows for me to have more knowledge than the average person, and therefore I will always be studying above my pay grade, allowing for a better role at the end of the scheme.
Yes, we get involved in charity events, such as cricket, escape rooms and so on. We do have networking events, but not everyone is often invited. It can be a few selected individuals. We do not necessarily organise the networking events, but may be invited by known organisations nearby. i
Yes
I would recommend Barclays because the potential roles at the end of the scheme are good, and it provides a good stepping stone. It gives you networking opportunities, and allows for key skills to be developed. You can meet a lot of people, and you gain a degree whilst working.
I would say to be yourself. If you meet the key skills and features that they're looking for, that means you are meant to be in the organisation and will thrive within it. If you do not have the same values, then it is more worthwhile to be involved in a different organisation.
