  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I on-board people onto Barclays.net this involves talking through the initial set up with the client, checking forms in accordanc to bank reords and bank mandates, liasing with clients and relationship managers, monitoring the team inbox and activating users on the .net system. this means I have to take responsibility for my clients during th eonboarding process by monitoring their progress giving updates and booking them onto next stages in order to proceed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes, I have learnt how to develop my written and verbal communications skills as well as how to deal with difficult situations. along wish this I have learnt how to manage my workload and prioritise my tasks in order to complete all my jobs each day. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my job role very much as I really like my team and find they are very approachable if I ever need help. I also like how the role varies as each day I have different tasks to complete. I enjoy working at Barclays as the team morale is always high even when we are busy or facing a tough stage.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • poor, since starting the apprentice programme I feel I have not progressed at all as an apprentice. the work given is unclear as are any deadlines. as well as this there is a huge lack of support between those running the apprenticeship. I feel like I have no idea what is going on and everyone I ask passes the blame and gives completely different answers

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel massively supported by my employer as I always have the chance to take opportunities' which arise and also I am pushed to always develop myself. my team leader is particularly supportive and is always booking me onto sessions and meetings that will futher my development. I also feel there is a lot of opportunity to develop outside the job role

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • none, since starting in September I have had little to no support. we have had 1 revision session in this whole time. there is no clear guidelines deadlines or support from the training provider and the work has been barely explained. I feel completely unmotivated with the work as I feel I have had no support to understand what I am doing

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • not at all, since starting my role I have barely taken apprentice time as I am unaware of what I should be doing during these hours. therefore I feel my qualification hasn't helped me at all. I don't feel like any of the work i have done has benefitted me at all

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • i would recommend Barclays to a friend however not the apprenticeship. i would recommend Barclays as they are a great employer and i feel very secure and well looked after. however i would not recommend the apprentice as there is no structure of guidance in order to help you succeed.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • to take every opportunity you can as well as attending as many networking sessions as possible as this may help you progress in the future y getting your name around positively. i would also say to always focus on the role to be recognised for your hard work and determination. always go the extra mile for clients
