My current role is PMO, so I am responsible for my teams expenses, weekly reports to the client, holiday tracker, onbaording etc and some Data security and privacy. It is admin based to support the Project manager. My first role was around internal marketing and our partnership strategy. This involved event planning and some comms which I also enjoyed
Yes! Everything from digital skills like photoshop, to communication skills to talk to people from different levels of seniority. I did drama A level so thought I would be confident at presenting, however in this atmosphere I am finding it more nerve-racking than expected. This can be amended however through IBM Provided presenting courses with a training provider- and also through day to day experiences on the job! Everyone is so supportive in giving you room to develop skills
A lot. There is so much training provided alongside our day to day job, and having a large apprentice community helps me feel like I am not missing out on the social aspect of university! I loved business A level so coming into a consulting role allows me to get visibility over multiple departments within the company
Very well structured however it is down to us to balance our online training with our job, which can be hard if you are working for a client. The scheme is broken into learning per quarter, which is a clear structure for us to work towards and record in our portfolios
A lot, the support system from different managers is great! All apprentices are assigned with an early professionals manager, who gives you coaching sessions on a regular basis. This is good to have someone oversea how your progress is so far, but you will also be working with a line manger on a more day to day basis, who is aware of your apprenticeship work and should also support your learning.
Lots of opportunities however it can be hard to balance everything as you are always so busy! There are weekly newsletters that get sent which advertise additional training courses. Although these aren't mandatory, they are great opportunities to take to receive some extra education around certain topics. Why not get qualified!
Most training courses are really helpful and relevant, and can be applied in day to day jobs. I struggle with the online training though as it is hard to stay engaged through a laptop screen! My favourite courses have been with QA as the facilitators present with such energy and enthusiasm, which really brings to life the course topics
There are in work communities to get involved in which I love, and there are also social events such as team nights out etc or drinks every month! Communities include groups such as LGBT+ and allies, and foundation females. There is something for everyone to feel included in- and there are group chats to stay updated with what goes on!
Yes
There is so much flexibility in the pathway. You choose what roles you want to do and what areas you want to learn more about. Really can't fault it- so glad I chose IBM!! I love the apprentice culture here, as we also mix with grads and interns. Everyone is so welcoming
Build up a range of varied experience around key skills e.g communication, adaptability etc so you can show off how you have demonstrated theses attributes in the past! Also, showing willingness gets you far, as long as you are willing to give it your best shot- thats what counts!
