I am currently on a rotation in audit which means I am going out to client site and usually tasked with simple to mid level tasks such as ticking a sample or more advanced tasks such as picking a sample and testing. This involves a lot of spreadsheets and also a lot of the same type of work
yes my excel skills have massively improved. I have learnt things on excel I never knew were possible! Also my people skills have been improved as a lot of the work is client-facing and so you have to interact with new people on a daily basis. Also I have learned how to work in a professional environment.
Although the programme is tough and considering our salary the workload is certainly challenging however I feel like I am enjoying audit as I find it quite interesting and I like that we see the inner workings of a business. It is also good knowing we will do rotations in other departments.
It is very well organised, we are all assigned a programme advisor who is there to answer any questions, there is then a performance manager who is above them who organises all activities to do with the programme. there are regular catch-ups and Q and As to ensure we always feel comfortable.
We receive plenty of support- as mentioned above we have a programme advisor who is then to cater to all our needs such as questions about the programme, if you are struggling you can speak to them and with exams there are there to help with revision and anything else you need
BPP are very good in terms of the online resources they have which help with revision and also in send us weekly reminders in the lead up to the exam with our progress on these online sites and time left until the exam. The actual teaching which is done usually through webinar although we have also had normal teaching could do with some work
I feel it helps us with the basic skills we need for the role and works as a backup to all the information and knowledge we gain whilst doing the role. Of course the added pressure of an exam whilst working full time can sometimes be a hindrance to our everyday work but it is also good and it teaches us how to plan and prioritise work.
There is a weekly football 5 a side which happens and also a running group which also meets up weekly. there are regular socials both departmental and office based which give us a chance to network but also a chance to relax also and forget about work. There is a specialised social committee amongst the department to deal with these things
Yes
I feel that KPMG is a good place to work with a very inclusive work environment and the managers and senior personnel do their best to make you feel welcome. Especially for apprentices there is a lot of support and the company goes out of its way to ensure a smooth initiation process
I would say that knowing about KPMG and what they do is essential before applying as well as having some basic knowledge of the area you are applying to, I would say if you can apply for the 360 programme instead of tieing yourself to one department from the get go and most importantly be relaxed and yourself in interviews
