  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a 360 apprentice I will be given the opportunity to rotate around the different sectors of KPMG. At the moment I am in the middle of a one year placement in Audit. In audit I spend a lot of time visiting client offices as its easier to obtain the things we need when we are able to meet them face to face.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have leant far more skills in this first year than I thought possible. The amount of skills I have been able to develop due to working in a professional environment is invaluable. The skills I have developed the most are: communication, teamwork and presentation. these are all vital skills to have when working in a team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme very much. I believe that it was the best option for me to take as I was not very keen on the traditional university route. The programme has allowed me to go into a profession that I enjoy and allowed me to earn whilst I learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe the programme is very well structured. They make an effort to schedule learning activities in periods where work is not as busy so its easier to balance between the two. Also, they give plenty of notice for exams/study leave so there is little to no possibility of missing an important date.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • KPMG offer a lot of support for its apprentices. Whether its from the apprenticeship team in the form of catch up calls or just from the teams you work on in the office. If you there is anything you are unsure about or you are just being curious, then there will be someone who is more than willing to answer that question.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Aat offers a lot of support for us. We are given study leave to attend college to learn the content for our exams. At college, the facilitators are more than happy to answer any questions. We also have a lot of online facilities that we can use to support our self study which is very useful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that the qualification I am working towards getting is helping me with my day to day work immensely and the opposite. As the knowledge I gain from lessons can be used directly in my work and the work I perform can help me gain a greater understanding of some topics before I cover them for the qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • KPMG offers many social events, mainly in the form of networking events. I have attended many office socials which were great opportunities to get to know the people that I would be working with better. I have also attended may apprentice socials where all the apprentices from the UK get together, and it means you can build strong relationships with people from all over the country.

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • KPMG is a fantastic company to work for as it cares for its employees. It wants its employees to give back what they give them, so by keeping them positive they can expect good quality work from the employees. It also offers a higher salary in comparison to other apprenticeships so it is easier to earn savings for the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • When applying to KPMG don't be afraid to be yourself, they are looking for an interesting individual that stands out from the crowd and will benefit their company. There is no reason to change your personality to feel like a more employable person. KPMG want to see you in your true colours and there is a much greater chance of success if you are true to yourself.
