My current role is working in the Restructuring team. My time is split between advisory work and insolvency work mainly. I am creating detailed analysis work as well as talking to the client face to face in order to better understand the business. It is a team environment and is rewarding as we work to achieve a common goal
My technology skills especially my work on excel has improved massively since joining KPMG. I can now quickly look at large pieces of data and pull out the necessary information in order to gain a good understanding. I can then also put it into a format such that the client and management teams are able to view it. My studying efficiency has also increased since balancing work and exams.
My first year of my program has been really enjoyable. Being able to work with a range of people and challenge yourself every day. The fact that qualifications are also a big part of my own personal development means that we are constantly motived to work hard to improve our knowledge pool. I have already met some great people and made some lasting relationships.
The programme is well structured with specific times for study and training blocked out. Therefore we are able to work effectively when on the job, or on study. We also as an apprentice cohort meet up quarterly in London such that we can continue learning as well as provided us with an opportunity to catch up and network with other people in the same position as ourselves.
The support so far has been really good. Both within KPMG , as teams give time off to focus on study, as well as providing regular catch ups and feedback to help with work quality. We are also supported externally by BPP coaches to help specifically with exams and study practise. This on top of good quality tutors has made exams much more manageable.
The support has been extensive to help with our studies. We have received a large volume of study materials and question practise, as well as online materials such as recordings or mock assessments. The tutors have always been on hand for any queries and we also have regular catch ups with a BPP coach to ensure we are on track with studies.
Currently, the work I am doing is directly supported by the studies I am carrying out. By passing exams and become more confident with accounting knowledge and terminology, it means I am able to go about my day to day with more accuracy and underlying ability. I hope the more exams I pass the more this will improve.
Yes! My apprentice cohort has already taken part in a 5 a side football tornament in Leeds. There are also several other sports teams running such as squash and cricket. In terms of networking, this Is a big part of the business and is encouraged. There are many events to join in with to give a chance to network and meet new people.
Yes

You re client facing from day one and are able to speak to a range of people in order to learn as fast as possible. The balance of work and study also enable you to get through your qualifications efficiently whilst also getting many working experiences.
Be yourself. KPMG like to have a diverse community with lots of different skills. Try to link your life experiences to the values that KPMG lives by. Be open and honest and get good at speaking to people as much as you can, communication is an extremely important part of day to day life.
