My role is mainly based around administration work. I currently support a partner in Tax along with using a piece of software called ASK, where you can pick up tasks to do for people all over the UK. This means you will be in contact with a variety of different people from different offices.
I have learnt many different skills starting with I.T/computer skills as I have gained exposure to loads of pieces of software/applications that I would never have used before, so my skills on the computer have grew massively. I have also developed better communication skills and gained more confidence through meeting so many different kinds of people from an apprentice to partners.
I enjoy the programme I am currently on, as I am always being supported by those around me, the apprenticeship management teams and all people involved in the programme. I was never left alone to start off with, I had constant guidance and help, even when I didn't need it.
The learning aspect of the programme is very organised. At the start, I was given loads of information including my assessment plan, which gave me an idea of how the programme was structured and when assignments were due in and how they were submitted online, which is helpful when you have no clue what it is going to be like to start off with and within my first day I knew.
As said before, I receive constant support from my line manager, any queries or problems I have I know I can speak to my manager about as the problem will be solved straight away. My manager is very understanding is constantly trying to help me progress in my future career.
Every month I have online webinars with my training provider, which are kind of like online classroom sessions where I am able to ask any questions. I also have monthly calls with my training assessor just one-on-one which is helpful if I am struggling with my assignment and need some extra guidance.
I have recently completed an assignment to do with communication and I therefore needed to gather some evidence that I used good communication skills. This gave me exposure to a lot of people which boosted my confidence and I met loads of new people I would never had spoken to before.
I have been involved in an event which allowed me to go back to my old high school and represent KPMG at a careers fair. I am constantly being asked to get involved in upcoming events which could be literally anything from hosting something small within the office to hosting a huge event across the country.
Yes
KPMG offers so much support, more than I could ever imagine, you almost don't do anything without help and guidance and that truly makes you happy while at work. You meet so many different people and some even become your friends outside of work. There is always an opportunity to progress at KPMG.
The advice I would give to those applying to KPMG is to not be scared of change - at KPMG things constantly change, but for the better and the company is doing everything to benefit us. Also, I would recommend you try your hardest at all times as people will notice that and put you on the right path to success.
