I work on a program called ServiceNow which is an ITSM tool used by many companies including Barclays. it is essentially a tool used to automate and improve processes used throughout ITIL led areas of the bank. We work to "keep the lights on" so to speak, making sure all processes such as incidents are running smoothly and to their highest potential, providing the best user experience.
i have learnt many new skills in the 6 months i have been in this role. As i came into this role with no previous history of anything to do with IT or coding the team have been very supportive in teaching me the various coding languages i have had to learn and am getting better daily.
i enjoy it massively. The team are incredibly helpful and supportive whilst also ensuring that the workplace is a fun place to be and that everyone is involved. The course is very well laid out as it gives a few months at the start of the apprenticeship to settle in before going into college.
very well organised. As i am on the foundation apprenticeship we have block release to college which is really beneficial as it keeps the work aspect separate from the college aspect. Allowing you to properly focus on work when in the office and on learning when in college. Also, with being in work during the times we are not in college is very fortunate as we pick up skills in both areas that help with the other.
I receive tremendous support from my employer with a careers coach that i meet with regularly to check my progress but most importantly that im okay and not overly stressed or anything like that. And within my immediate team they are also very supportive and are always there to help whenever i need it.
QA have been very supportive so far however as i have only been to one workshop i cant comment on how they are towards my qualifications. However, they were very supportive on the course i have been on and made sure that the environment was one that is serious but also comfortable and relaxed
My qualification helps massively as it strengthens the knowledge i gain from my role and also teaches me new methods of doing certain processes in a more efficient way, allowing me to exceed expectations in the workplace. It also provides a place to work through the theory of why certain things work the way they do.
Yes, at my work there is a multitude of extra-curricular activities such as football 5 a side games every lunchtime accessible to all. There is also a tennis club and gym. There is also a community page in which people advertise quizes and fun events for anyone to go to.
Yes
It has been an amazing experience so far and continues to get better. As an opportunity they don't really get much better than being paid to learn but also have people around you that can help with any problems you should have. They are also very accommodating and have regular checkups to make sure you're okay and not too stressed or anything like that.
Be confident in your online interview and take all the time given to you to prepare your answers. On the assessment center make sure to get your points across to your team but don't be too controlling or bossy, let other people have their say as well. And finally, take all the opportunities thrown your way once you have started as they will only catapult your career forward.
