  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy feeling more useful and more involved in my team as their problems feel like my problems and i enjoy problem solving. Also experiencing such a wide amount of raw data is a interesting part of the job as you can make conclusions ou tof them which the business may find useful

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme takes a while to get started as the training isn't fully organised when i began. The team around me prepared me very well though for whatever challenges i came up against. The barclays side of the apprenticeship in my opinion is well organised, they have set challenges which are quite well managed

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive constant support from all my colleagues and support that i can reach out to should i feel a need to always available. There's also a whistle blowing team in which you can anonymously confidentially raise attention to anything you are unhappy about that you feel you don't want to talk to someone immediately around you about

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Don't know haven't been to a training session with them yet, but having met them already they are very supportive and offer help at any one moment should you require it. They also describe their requirements from you very extensively so that it is very easy to understand

  • Again don't know haven't been trained by them yet, but when i do get trained i'll be much better at my job as i'll be able to confidently make changes to code knowing more about the effects of those changes and i'll be able to read the code better as i'll understand the basics better

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They're just so supportive that i feel a lot of people could benefit from this course. Their values are also a great example to follow. The benefits form this course are a decent wage (for an apprenticeship: £16,800) and free buses from knutsford station to radbroke and from crewe to radbroke and vice versa. Also there are constantly events going on on site sometimes ice cream sales, sometimes flowers sales, or indian food sales. They have a great canteen also full of many cultural dishes but still with basics like chips and burger

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • The values of Barclays are Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Stewardship. Try to get a look at the site (perhaps through work experience) before you decide you want to work here as its much different from most work places. Don't think of it as a banking job there are lots of business or IT jobs available of all different varieties and for that reason they don't tell you your specific role that they have for you. If you get through to the assessment day they do an excercise called spaghetti marshmellows in which you have to build a solid tower out of spaghetti and marshmellows and then place a ball on top. Also on that day theres presentations and a clues game, and then an interview
