  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day, I engage with clients during meetings varying between being in person or via Skype as well as around the office when on client site. Based on what the meetings agenda is, I will pick up work from this and continue to communicate with those I need to in order to complete my work both internally and externally to my company. Following work being completed, I will send over what I have done to my team which can then be discussed either the next morning or in our afternoon scrum meeting. After hours, I study for my university modules and complete any lectures/tutorials which I need to do.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed core Java and SQL courses within my university time on campus. I have also attended Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Training and High Impact Communications Training offsite with apprentices from my company and my client's. I have developed my ability to transfer and share knowledge, also my ability to communicate with others effectively. I have also completed training which contributes to a qualification in Engagement Management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the programme that I am on. There is constant support from all roles and particularly in the apprentice culture from both my cohort as well as those further on in the programme. I find the workload challenging but also manageable, helping me to develop as a person. There are vast amounts of opportunities to give back to the community, attend networking events and participate in events which all make the programme more enjoyable and feel valued in my role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured and organised by the team. The induction was thoroughly planned so that there was maximum benefit to us as well as the team themselves. Having the induction so well planned helped the group bond as a team for the next period of university and even still now. We are aware of who we can go to if we are encountering any difficulties and know that we can trust in who we approach.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager takes an active role in knowing what I am working on and is often looking at further opportunities for me to take a role in. Within the team I am working on I am aware of who I can receive support from and to what level of support they can provide. There is a positive attitude surrounding support and progression. The apprenticeship team are also kept in the loop of what we are focusing on too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a generous amount of support from the university (training provider.) I am fortunate enough of having monthly meetings with a member of the university to discuss how it is going and whether there is anything extra that the university can provide. The university mentors are rapid in their email responses so any issues that I may have will more often than not be resolved the same day. The lecturers of the module also have allocated times in their diary where we can have 1:1 support or alternatively there are group Q&A sessions bi-weekly where any content related questions can be asked.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The module content which I am learning can immediately be put into practice in the work environment as it often helps me better understand the content by actually using it. Having put the work I am learning into practice it also means that I am able to talk to professionals regarding the work which also better helps my understanding which I can then take back to my peers to help them too.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have participated in National Apprenticeship Week, creating content for social media and attending a talk at a local school, I have also been an interviewee to celebrate Women in tech for a local girls school. Alongside this I have facilitated two events with schools in London and Wisbech to inspire innovation in technology. I am often invited to events where networking can occur, which often occurs monthly.
