Leading a development team made up of 3 onshore resources and 5 resources in India to deliver a global implementation of Salesforce FSL. Daily tasks include; - Liaising with client on requirements/defects - designing/implementing changes - Hosting daily dev stand ups on what everyone has been working on - Providing project updates to management.
Yes. I have added to my technical portfolio how to design and implement Salesforce using both agile methodologies and waterfall methodologies. As well as this i have learnt how to follow a proper dev ops model in building and releasing code. Soft skills i have learnt how to engage with the client and carry myself in a professional manor.
My programme has been very enjoyable, i have had the opportunity to meet new friends at work both on my programme and in the business along with travel the world through the engagements i've been involved in from America through Asia and Australia to name a few. Great fun.
When i first joint in september 2013 the course was in a very early stage and there was not many people before me to learn from so i was one of the few trailblazers. It wasn't the best organised but looking at the training/support the new joiners get now it is very organised.
Lots of support is provided. Whether its direct from line managers or from colleagues alike, if time off is required to complete studies or just learning new things from them the support is there. The GAP network which has also been established is very supportive in driving management to respect the more junior joiners.
Capgemini is coupled with Aston University as the training provider and again this is a newer relationship as i have now finished my programme with them. The support during my time could have been better and closer detail paid to attention but from what i hear this feedback has been taken on board and they are now pitting more attention to detail.
Not all of the modules i undertook are directly relevant to my current day to day job but that would never be the case, i suspect they will come in handy later in my career. However saying that some modules i do see myself using daily in how to manage myself around the business.
Yes Capgemini is always organising events for all to take part in whether that be a sporting activity such as the three peaks challenge or palace to palace, or it be regular meet ups to catch up as a team and meet new members/socialise. It is a very active place to work.
Yes
Not many places can offer you a degree for free with a career development plan such as this. I consider myself to be way above my friends who decided to go to Uni and are now searching for jobs. You get a full degree and 5 years experience, along with skills you just cant pick up at uni and can only be developed in the professional workplace. Oh and you get paid to do all that!
Be confident. As much as you are being hired to come in and do your job designing or implementing new technology, you're also coming in as a consultant. Throughout the interview phases you're being assessed on how well you can carry yourself and if you where put into a group would you try to help lead or sit back and follow. Will you help blaze a path to the future of Capgemini?
