  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Taking calls from new business customers, taking information about themselves and the new business and then looking to book them in for an appointment or advise of other options to getting their new account opened. We also received chaser calls and miss directed calls that we need to deal with in a professional manner.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills because I am constantly on the phone to different types of people and different types of business people. New skills I have learnt have made me build my confidence with other colleagues and prospective customers that are looking to use Barclays as their new bank.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have rated this a low score because of the role I am doing is not something I am enjoying and the programme is a small part of my role. I am moving to a new role after 6 months which is almost the same as the role I am currently in which means I am not really exploring what Barclays bank offers.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure is there on tesselo, it shows us what is needed to be completed and when to do it by. The organisation could be better as we never really see other apprentices to talk through the skills and work we have done which means it can be difficult to complete the work if it is not thoroughly correct.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a good amount of support, my team leader is there whenever I have questions or want to further myself within Barclays which is good. The apprentice coaches are also good at replying and speaking to me whenever I have queries or comments on the programme either via email or in person.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has started to provide more help to us when needed but at the start it wasn't structured very well. We didn't know who our coach was and weren't registered for a few months which delayed our progress. Now it is much easier to get support from them now we know what is happening.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is good to learn more about the bank and what it offers different types of customers. The learning book provides good revision material to work towards our exam at the end of our programme. Although I do think we need more off the job time to work towards this.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a couple of good events and extra curricular activities to get involved in, I have got involved in the life skills programme to better the lives of young people around our area. There was a sports event but I didn't know how to get involved in playing in it.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend them to a friend because they are a friendly employer who offers lots of support to colleagues whenever it is needed. I would probably recommend getting a full time job rather than the apprenticeship programme to a friend ut overall I am happy with the Barclays employer.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • The advice I would give is to have a god look into a lot of the aspects of the bank to find the right role for that person. This means studying the roles and if you're already an employee then sit with your role and find out more information upon applying for the new role.
