My day to day job role is to provide front end IT support to my stake holders on the trade floor. I am to reply to emails and deal with face to face interactions to help solve any questions and queries that the users have about either a report that needs to be created or simply a query on how to use the web GUI.
As an apprentice, I started with a very minimal knowledge of my job role and what I would need to know in order to be able to fulfill my job role successfully. Because of this I have found that I have learnt a lot of new skills to do with Equities and also with working with servers/processors/services etc.
At times the role I am in can be stressful due to the high amount of pressure you can receive when there are a lot of issues that happen in a short period of time. However, I find myself learning something new every day and getting better at my job and that is a very fulfilling feeling.
I have had some small issues with contacting the learning center but this has recently been solved. Also I do not think that my managers take into account that I am an apprentice and do also have coursework to do, I find myself struggling to find time to work on my coursework and because of that am falling behind.
I would say not an awful lot of support is given, I am not given regular meetings to review my progress not only at work but also at my coursework + learning. It is very much taken upon myself to get everything that needs doing done, which at the moment is fine but in the future may become a problem.
I am given regular meetings with my QA manager and within that meeting he helps check on what progress I am making with my coursework, he keeps me up to date on what needs doing and also sets deadlines for me. he also makes sure that my work life is going well.
Because of the job role I am in, there was not really an ideal course that would have massively benefitted my performance in my job role and therefore I was forced to take a course that I could complete but would not necessarily benefit the performance of my job role.
there are many sports teams that are available for anyone to join, these include football, rugby, cricket and more. There are also social events that take place very frequently about different ideas that are made in the company. I am also taking part in a charity run that is being hosted from our team.
