My role at Barclays is within the Application Security team of the Chief Information Security Office. The Barclays UK Chief Information Security Office is responsible for the security of the Barclays UK business. The security team supports the business in ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of our systems and information assets, through partnership with the Group Chief Security Office who deliver group wide security services. The CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) triad of information security is a benchmark model that we use to analyse the information security of the business.
I have learnt many skills in using Microsoft platforms such as excel, word and even powerpoint. My communication skills have also improved as i have to speak to people around the world form all ages and backgrounds. I have learnt so much knowledge on cyber security and its processes which I need to function in my daily role.
I love my programme. I am constantly learning and progressing and i have so much support and help from my work colleagues. I have met many new people and my work load is challenging and fun. I like that i am developing and learning new skills all the time and being able to put those skills into practice is also very beneficial.
My programme is really well structured. I am aware of what i have to do and what objectives and standards i need to meet. My college course takes place in Manchester and i am in constant communication with my skills coach and apprenticeship leader. They are al3ways on call to answer any questions or queries i have.
I receive immense amounts of support. I am given time to complete any college work and my line manager and I discuss my tasks and college course weekly in our 1-2-1's. My employer is aware of how much of a priority the college course is so is conscious of my work loads and is constantly checking up on me and making sure i am okay and providing any support that is required.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I have frequent meetings with a skills coach from the training provider who provides support and answers any questions i have. As a result i feel more comfortable and confident in working towards those qualifications as i know that the support is in place should i need it.
My qualification gives me extra learning and a wider knowledge on the generic and specific parts of my role. As a result i feel more confident in my role as i have the adequate knowledge required and i feel that it adds a sense of experience as without the qualification i would be dependant on outside and personal reading to gain a wider knowledge of the things that i don't know or use in my daily role
Yes. There are so many activities to get involved in. These range from sports teams to specific clubs. As a result it makes work more enjoyable and more relaxed. There are things to do everyday and there are clubs for most hobbies you can think of. This is really good for networking and getting to know people who aren't directly in your team or building
Yes
It is a really good place to work. The support i have had has been amazing and i know based off my experience here that my friends would enjoy it. I have met so many people and everyone is so friendly. It makes work not feel like work in a sense
Just be yourself. Everyone here is from all ages and backgrounds, its not a case of needing to stand out from the crowd or having a desire to fit in because regardless you are made to feel like family. It is a great company to work for and really cares about you as an individual. You are made to feel needed and wanted which is great when there are so many colleagues
