I am a Junior PM working on the DSP project. My day consists of numerous meetings regarding different areas of my project, putting together presentations, reporting, general discussions with clients ad colleagues and my apprenticeship work. I allow every friday morning to keep up to date with my apprenticeship work.
Yes, I have learnt many new skills since my apprenticeship started back in September. I have a very good knowledge about general Project Management practice which I have picked up from my courses and work experience. I have also improved many existing skills that I had such as communication, emailing and minute writing.
I really enjoy my programme, I think the fact that I have a lot of variation in my job role helps a lot. I am in 3 different offices a week which means I get to see many different in my company on a weekly basis. The project ?I am actually working on is very interesting as well.
The programme is well organised and my course dates and review dates are planned well in advance which is very helpful. However it is not always easy to get hold of my training provider when I need them. Apart from that, the structure is very clear and I am never unsure of what I am required to do.
I receive lots of support from my employer, there is always someone within my organisation that is willing to help me. Whether it be with work related issues or apprenticeship related, they will still do whatever they can to assist with it. I even have a weekly meeting with my people manager to discuss any general issues I may have.
A good amount but not quite as sufficient as support I receive from my employer, as mentioned earlier, they can often be quite difficult to get hold of. However once I have gotten hold of them, they are very helpful and will do their upmost to resolve any issue I may have,
Strongly agree with this. All of the knowledge that I pick up during my qualification is relevant to my job role, therefore I can apply it to all aspects of my work. The combination of the knowledge I receive from my qualification and my on job experience allows me to make fast progression within my role.
yes we have a Sports and Social Club that I used to be a member. there are lots of initiatives to try and help build relationships at work. I personally believe that anytime you are in the office is a great opportunity to network. I am pretty sure that they run a football team at the Leatherhead office as well.
Yes
I have really enjoyed my time here at CGI and don't think there are many companies like it that can offer the same level of variation and opportunity in your work. There are many people that have been at the company for over 20 years whcih I think is also a good indicator that it is a fantastic place to work.
In terms of the assessment phase, be confident with what you say, prepare and be on time. I would say be prepared to work hard and to potentially travel quite a lot but most importantly I'd say it's a fantastic opportunity that will give you detailed exposure to lots of different areas of projects.
