I work on a team which is responsible for providing protective monitoring services. I take part in monitoring for the team while also writing process documents and reports and also implementing new structures for the service. I am mainly Cyber Security focused but I also work on programming using python.
I had no prior cyber security pratical experience but I have been able to learn the fundemental skills requried to operate in the industry and will continue to expand on my skills. I am also continuing to get experience in other areas such as programming whilst also learning a business sense from my university work.
The program has been very enjoyable so far as I am able to consistently learn within the industry while also learning a wide range of skills from university which I would not be able to experience at work. The support I have gotten from the members within the business has been great and I am able to contact them with any queries.
The programme is stuructre well which clear designated people who are allocated between the university and my work. As well as contacts for my work and university environment. We are updated by a students email that the business owns as well as the standard university email method which Winchester use.
I recieve a good amount of support from my employer, varying for university, work and work/uni representatives, I feel that I can email any of these with any queries I may have. I also have access to email my university lecturers which can provide me help on my university work.
I recieve full support from my work employees which offer to help with my university assignments. My UK students representatives also provide support by providing training material for free. They are very positive when it comes to supporting me which helps me excel in my training. Support is also very accesible.
Learning off the job as well as on the job helps me learn theory which may not be completely nessecary for the role and apply it without taking away from my work. This helps me greatly in my performance at work as I can dedicate time to learning my interests.
There is a sports and social club which runs events which costs a fiver to subscribe to. The people there run events more than monthly which have a wide variety of activites, such a social events, sports and theater and movie visits. Its expansive and available to the rest of the business.

CGI offers an opportunity to get a degree whilst also working in a positive working environment. Learning cruical skills which arent available from only university study means that me and my collegaues will be very employable at the end of the programme. This means that if you do a degree apprentice programme at cgi you'll be much more employable and get to work in a positive work environment.
You must be able to stand yourself out from the crowd from other candidates. By doing work experience at multiple companies before applying. In general a proactive mindset is required in assessment centers. They will also look for enthuasim in your chosen role to see you as an ideal candidate.
