Answer Emails, Review any outstanding tickets then begin work on what I'm currently doing in the infrastructure team. I have responsibility of several systems and tasks which other members of my team depend on which is a source of motivation. We also have various team meetings and stand-ups where we discuss how progression is and what is outstanding. I find my work days are engaging and allow me to be creative in finding solutions, and so are very enjoyable.
I have Improved knowledge of infrastructure, general IT and the business culture including meeting with clients or dealing with internal deadlines. As well as the university degree, there is also the opportunity to gain additional qualifications as there is a large emphasis on individual career development in line with personal goals. This is formally outlined through meetings on personal development as well as informal talks. I believe this is the most beneficial environment as it allows you to practically apply all experiences and skills.
Having not enjoyed school, working at CGI gives me a new motivation to get up in the morning, and I enjoy it thoroughly. This means I put in extra work and work harder when doing university assignments because I'm in an environment I want to be in. There is a great wider company culture as well as local project and team cultures which create a great working atmosphere.
My programme has several teams I can contact with any queries, including resourcing, my senior managers, student recruitment, etc. There is also a network of students where any queries or issues are often discussed. There is also material given from the university in the form of documents and through lectures and inductions giving a great overview of the course.
My senior managers offer professional support and have aided me in dealing with various issues, additionally significant support has been given where they have worked with the university to help me in my chosen career path. There are also various mental and physical health care paths. Professional support also comes from team members who are very knowledgeable of various aspects and are happy to not only help to complete the work, but also give some time to explain and aid in my development and understanding.
I am able to gain support from members in my project and team who often have professionally practised various tasks I am required to do in assignments for university, allowing me to also gain a work place perspective on what I have learnt at university. There are also various intranet pages accessible allowing frequently asked questions to be resolved.
I am able to bridge the gap between the theory learnt at university and the practical application of various tasks in the work place so I can clearly develop my overall knowledge and allows me to progress in my career faster. Although not all the modules learnt are directly beneficial, they build various soft skills and knowledge allowing for wider development as an individual.
There is a sports and social club many members join, where there are many events including horse races, wine tasting and days at theme parks. There are also team building days through projects and business unit meetings for professional development. There are also many opportunities to volunteer for charity as well as helping out in different areas of the company, E.g becoming first aid trained.

This is considering the social aspects, professional and educational benefits offered allowing apprentices to gain a solid foundation to a great career in their chosen discipline. The opportunities in the company are endless and your career is in your hands to seek this.
Compatibility with the the CGI constitution, outlining the corporate culture, is very important. Additionally, a passion and deep interest in the chosen career discipline is beneficial as well as being able to demonstrate how you currently practise these interests. The application process is unlike other apprenticeships and they want to get to know you as an individual, through their assessment days which are very enjoyable.
