my role as an apprentice is to go around the different areas in the business (three or six months placements) and understand how MBDA operates as a whole. I get involved with varies task and projects which are agreed with myself and line manager. if there is something I would like to get involved in all I need to do is ask!
with most of the placements I am expected to present an end of placement presentation which showcases all the things I have done in that period of time. this is presented to the team I am working with. This has helped me with my confidence to present to senior management. Additionally, I have learnt how to communicate with different people within the business.
I enjoy the working atmosphere in MBDA. everyone in the company are willing to help out the apprentices and are keen to share knowledge with the future generation. I feel comfortable to ask anyone! I enjoy the amount of trust they have with there apprentices with the work they set them. gives us a sense of responsibility.
they programme is well structured. the placements are pre-planned out but if you would like to experience a certain area, MBDA are willing to accommodate that for you. you are able to drive your career. however, for my year the placements haven't been pre planned which is due to there being more apprentices than placements.
MBDA are hugely supportive of their employees in my eyes. they pushing you to do well for yourself not just for the company. this is demonstrated by them paying for degrees and training etc. there is a lot of support available not just for careers but for well-being too i.e. the onsite gym.
the college is always there to help when I need anything. I can contact via email or phone. during our day release, the lecturers are always willing to answer questions. if I don't understand something, they will ask the other students if they are having the same issue and help us all.
anything I learn during my qualification, I am able to apply into my workplace. I can say not everything I have learn I can apply. this may be because I haven't gone around the business yet as much. when I go into a placement and I have I have learnt it - I can ask the team for a recap as it might of been a long time since I done it.
MBDA push their employee to get involved with events/activities. the apprentice get sent opportunities to get involved with varies events through the whole year. this is a great why to network with others and additional things to add to your CV away from your working life. which is great !
Yes
because MBDA pushing their people to be the best they can be. they push you as an individual. its more like a family than a team and you are able to work how it best suits you. they are great facilities on site for their employees and continuously making the workplace better for the people.
I would say be yourself, don't try to make out something you aren't because MBDA will help you to be the best so be honest. have passion and commitment for what we do. finally, don't give up as you can always re-apply just like I have because I was keen to work here.
